It's wartime, Dave. They were made for Snap/on by Duplex Mfg Co in Sherman, NY, who also made them for the US Army Ordnance Dept. You can find them marked Duplex as well. The patent, for those exterior cantilevers, was granted to John Coe of Jamestown, NY, in 1926. I have been looking for one for years to put all my wartime Snap/on stuff in. Congrats!

I don't usually buy snap on stuff, but I couldn't resist this pair for a dollar each. The chrome breaker bar is a 3/8 fv10b. The bare steel one is also 3/8" and labeled F-10-H6 and has what looks to be a 1939 or 1940 date code. It certainly looks wartime.

Dan,
I think that your Ferret flex handle is an F-10-H and the G indicates that it was made in 1945. The date code they put on those looks like it’s part of the part number on the tool. My midget handles are like that too.

Aha! That makes sense- it does look like a G now that you mention it, That other mark could be a G as well but it really looks like the 1940 date code.

One of the nice things about some of the older bars, is that you can extend them.

Had a very nice day out at the flea today. Picked up a few small treasures... Two Snap on, one 1957 brake bleeder wrench and one much older Blue Point DOE. Not cleaned yet.

Nice. I have a few of those. Some have a "blue points" logo and others just "bluepoint"

Brought home a few sockets today. The 1/2in drive 1" standard and 13/16" deep are both 1945. The 3/8" drive doesn't have a date. I only grabbed it because it's 17/32". I've never seen that size before. :dunno:

That 17/32” is a pretty unusual size. I’m surprised that it’s not dated.
I found a Whitworth shorty combo today at the Tahoe flea along with an 11/16” Blue Point combo which was undated.

Some SO industrial tools from the 20s.
Three speeders. A2005 (29) A2006 (28) A2010 (29). have pin detents. There are probably at least 10 models 01-10. No one has an industrial cat from this era.
The socks are all 1/2 dr. model number Pxxx. date codes. none thru 32. not sure how many there are. I am missing a few, so holler at me if you have some.
The P models were made in the 20s thru I think into the 60s. came in at lease 1/2, 5/8, 7/8 drives. notice the universal also has a pin for the detent. quite rare.

Nice, that’s some unusual stuff.

I have some of the really old 1/2” dr. flex sockets, the ones with very little movement that basically just tilt . Not sure the year or part #. I don’t have access to them now but do you know the ones I mean? Maybe they are later.

That looks like a true flex joint, but the ones I’m thinking of don’t flex all the way like that. They are jointed like that but don’t tilt as far. They won’t go to 90 degrees, that’s for sure. They may have been later production, possibly from the industrial tool line or early flex sockets. I got them from an old timer years ago, they came with a bunch of old Apex or Dayton power/impact type sockets and were likely used in a factory. I’d like to find a picture on the web but no luck so far.

Bluebolt posted one of these recently. Here’s an A-59444 3/8” drive ratchet that came from across the pond. Pictured with an AT-8022.

I found a huge tool box full of random wrenches in my grandfather's basement after he passed. No one else in the family wanted them so I've started going through them. Here are the Snap on tools I have found so far. Most of them look too be early to mid 50's. Think there may be a random Blue Point or two mixed in the pictures. I'm still sorting so I may find more.

Just a side note my grandfather worked for American Motors in Kenosha for 30+ years so I can only guess where these came from.... Haha

That is a really nice group. Some very good pieces in there. Well cared for too.
Yeah I can bet most of them were never used by my grandfather. He was not a tool guy and paid to have everything done for him. The tool box was locked and had about three inches of dirt and grime. Could barely tell it was a tool box. I'm surprised the tools were not rusted beyond repair!
