I am thinking about getting an enclosed trailer for all my carpentry tools that I use for work. Whenever I have to transport them or put them in my garage it is chaos.

I would love to see what some of you have done with trailers. I figure a trailer would be like a garage on wheels for tools, or like a big tool box.

Any ideas ?

Just remember that you're packaging your entire livelihood in a convenient, easy-to-steal container complete with wheels and a hitch coupler... and take appropriate security.

Well it is not a "tool trailer" but it is a trailer with my tools of the trade.

I'm a Regional Sales Manager and put together the trailer below last winter to be my Rolling Trade Show so engineers and prospective customers can see our equipment up close and personal.

The bonus is I can do product training on this equipment and not always have to tear into the new equipment they have installed onsite. Also gives me an enclosed trailer to haul stuff for projects at home, like the hard wood flooring I picked up a couple weeks ago.

List of Details:
A) 1100W Power Inverter w/ deap cell battery, charged off truck electrical system
B) PVC garage flooring installed to finish off floor of trailer
C) Equipment can be unbolted and placed on caster assembly to be moved indoors for shows or demonstration
D) Travelling billboard as I had graphics added to outside of trailer and truck

Invest in a good hitch lock, and padlocks for the doors. I travel all over 7 states and have not had a problem yet.

You might try to google up Tom Silva's trailer from This Old House. It was on one of the episodes. He had a place for EVERYTHING in there. Very organized. Lots of thought went into the layout and all of shelves/holders/drawers.

Very awesome guys. That's what I was thinking. Also, I know a trailer can walk, But having a whole set of tools on a jobsite is worse, and I cant haul materials and tools at the same time.

Thanks again

WOW this must be a busy place. I noticed a spike in visitors since Auzivision posted a link to my site. I figured I would have to join this forum as a thank you and to possibly offer any assistance in your needs.

Our work place wanted a "quick response" maintenance trailer (aircraft maintenance) for any away from base repairs and so i was tasked to put it together.
No pictures but it is an 18 foot trailer equiped with a 6000 watt generator on wheels, an electric 20 gallon air compressor on wheels. these are held down with aircraft tie down hooks. On the L/H side is a floor to ceiling metal cabinet with shelves and locking doors, next to that is a work bench with some locking drawers and a work light over head. These 2 items came from Sears both items totalled under $700. The challenge was the "V" front of the trailer. There i put hooks to hang all the air hose and electrical cords and a 5 foot fiberglass ladder. On the R/H side over the side door are a couple of metal racks to hold various spray cans.
