Ahh, I mistook it for one of the later stickers. I didn’t realize there was a metal tag of that block print “CRAFTSMAN.”
My 1985 bottom cab has the same tag on its bottom drawer, I thought most did in the 80s

Not exactly vintage, but I couldn't resist, so it followed me home. China, perhaps?

Posting pics 101:

Start from the "Go Advanced" posting menus, or the "Post Reply" button near the bottom of any page, (Or hit the "paperclip" button to get to the upload popup); and at step 5 copy it into the URL field after hitting the "postcard" button: (Step 4/5 is optional; you will still have thumbnails)

For imgur to work you need to take the "s" off of the https

This Mac toolbox showed up on CL. I love it, but $600 is more than I would want to pay since I don't really need it.

He listed it for $600 which means he really wants $500. Wait a week and show up with $450 cash and waive it under his nose so he can smell it. The box will be in your garage a few hours later.

Found a similar Crown box to yours with some Craftsman tools for $15.00 at the Tahoe flea today. Mine needs a little hammer and dolly work.

At least. I really only wanted the tray but the seller wouldn’t separate them. I think it responded well to a little bodywork.

My Craftsman 6516 Tool Box post clean-up, polish, and clear coat (Flood Penetrol) to secure its patina and prevent any further rusting. The first pic is what she looked like when acquired, then the photos as she is today.

Mid- to late-1970's Kennedy Kit K-20 brown tool box with green tray. Wonderful condition!

Wow.

That has to be new old stock. It only has shelf wear from the past 40 years.

.

Yes, certainly in great shape considering its age. Scratches show there was some (gentle) use, but inside/right you can see and tell that something large was dropped that scratched bottom rt and actually bent (a bit) the tray lip.

Don,
Got a before and after? I've got an old Kennedy K-20 which needs a little body work just for aesthetics but I've been concerned that doing so may cause some of the brown wrinkle paint to dislodge.

Edit: Never mind. I saw the pic you'd posted a bit earlier. Nice job!

Picked these Snap-On boxes up this afternoon. The larger one has some significant rust and other damage. The drawer slides may have some issues, especially the bottom drawer. They came with one Snap-On badge between them. It fits both box fronts in the upper left. It won't fit lower middle holes. The smaller box is in decent condition. I've definitely got some questions I hope you guys can answer...

Do these boxes have model #s and if so where are they located?
Is the one badge I have period correct?
Does Snap-On still offer replacement badges for the older boxes?

I'm not a Snap-On guy. I picked these up to resell. I'm wondering if the larger box is even worth doing anything to refurbish-wise. There are the issues with the drawer and/or drawer slides. As you can see from the pics there is some corrosion in a number of places that has eaten thru those areas completely. The metal around that corrosion is still heavy and solid but there's no getting around that damage. I'm wondering if I should just try to get what I can for it "as-is" and focus on cleaning up the smaller box.

Thoughts?

For what it's worth I'm into these for small money.

Thanks!
Mike

I would resell them for whatever you can get for them. The man hours you would be into any repair would not be worth it (if planning to resell)

Not particularly old or rare. If you need a box maybe fix up to use, not a ton of resale value.

I purchased this at an antique store recently. I was considering buying a KRA-21 online the night before and found this 12 hours later by chance. Its a 1960 KRA-21 in rough condition. Everything was bent before I put some work in getting the box and drawers close to straight. Going to blast and repaint it.

Well, if I'm going to part the drawers out don't I need to know the model #s? Can anyone tell me where those are located?
