Hi, all!

So we came up with the BluBird and Oil-Shield hoses and you folks at GJ really helped us out with the beta tests. And now we are back with another cutting-edge product. The BluShield All-Rubber Kevlar-braided Pressure Washer Hose 4000PSI. So what’s special about it?

You find two kinds of 4000PSI 3/8" pressure washer hoses on the market:
1. Single Wire-braided (3-ply) hoses (Rubber and plastic)
2. Double yarn-braided (5-ply) hoses (Rubber and plastic)

Both these have issues of being heavy and having flexibility / memory issues, which makes them hard to work with and manoeuver around the space.
The plastic ones are of course not as heavy-duty and don’t support hot water.

With BluShield, we are bringing the same BluBird design philosophy of being light, flexible and easy to heavy-duty pressure washer hoses.
By using kevlar/aramid (yes, the bulletproof material), we can make a hose as strong or even stronger than steel braided hoses in a single-braid.
And that makes our hoses 30% lighter while still being rubber and much more flexible and easy to work with.

1. 30% lighter than similar performance rubber pressure washer hoses
2. Much more flexible than wire braided or double-yarn braided hoses
3. Supports hot water up to 200F
3. 100% Rubber Tube with RMA Class A Oil-Resistance
4. 100% Light-blue Rubber Cover with high abrasion resistance
5. Kevlar/Aramid braided single-braid reinforcement stronger than wire
6. 4000 PSI Working Pressure with a 4:1 Safety Factor
7. Good cold weather flexibility, much better than plastic / PVC hoses
8. Available in both conductive and non-conductive designs (wire ones can’t be non-conductive)

We can call it bulletproof, but we won’t. And we want to put our claims to test. Our in-house testing that has lasted a year or so has proven great. And now it is time for you, the users, to put these to test.

We are giving away 5 units in the first batch on a first-come, first-serve basis. So, please apply with a line or so about how you intend to use it and why you think you’d be a great beta test case.

For any queries, you can reach us at [email protected]
Thanks!

Best

I wasn't sure if you wanted the request beta testing here or via email (sent an email as well). I'm a mobile detailer and currently use Kobrajet hose which is slowly developing a leak by the fittings. I'd be glad to put your hose to the ringers. I mainly wash vehicles in parking lots and the hoses I use must be able to take a beating. I would appreciate to be considered for testing.

We would be using it to clean our farm equipment. We are also by a campground, and at the end of the year we offer power washings to all the boaters & RVs before they go home & sit in their garage for the winter. Our hoses are often getting pulled over non-flat surfaces such as crushed asphalt & often get snagged by equipment.

I would use it for pressure washing my property (concrete pads, siding), vehicles, and general maintenance/cleaning tasks. If there's one thing I hate about my pressure washer, it would be the hose, not being flexible, kinking if I don't play it out perfectly, etc. Would LOVE to test out your new hose.

Thank you for the opportunity!

I have a shop where I work on vintage cars and use the heck out of my pressure washer.
Was using it this morning even.
I would love to try your new hose out.
In addition I am an engineer and used to do product testing as well as product certifications at a past company I was at
I would be happy to use the heck out of your product

I'd like to try this hose, but I don't think it'd work with my hot-water pressure washer because of the temperature. My unit operates up to ~250 degrees. Many hot-water pressure washers I've seen will operate well above 200 degrees - usually between 250-300 degrees.

Probably too late now, but Id love to give one a try! I just put together a 4000PSI/4gpm Landa cold water Pressurewasher and would like to try a lighter more flexible alternative to the new steel wire "hydraulic" type hose I have on it (made by Valley Mfg). Usually washing tractors and other farm type implements.

would beat the heck out of it in the arizona heat. hope it has UV resistance!

Hi,

That's a use case we'd like to try too. The hose isn't really that UV resistant like most oil-resistant hoses, but it is worth a try.

We will be happy to have you on-board.

Thank you for the great response, guys!

I am closing the applications for now. We'd on-boarded more than we had planned to, so if there's some delay in the samples reaching you, please bear with us. They will reach you though within a month.

Please share frankly your experiences here with photos and we will be glad to take that to improve the product further. Don't forget to write good things too :)

Right now home gamers getting into professional detailing has been a big boom. You'll find more people than ever performing paint corrections and ceramic coatings in their home garage. I'm active in various online detailing communities and have seen a large growth in members. What do I have to offer? I consider myself a highly informed consumer and try to make all of my purchases count; buy once, cry once. I'll use your hose for my weekly car wash regimen where I use a foam cannon and various other attachments. I'll share my experience with said detailing comunities and compare it to the junk hoses that come with most big box store pressure washers. Nothing fustrates me more than a kinked hose that rubs up against the bottom of a car door or bumper!

Got my hose but havent been home in about a month to try it out.
Ive never seen high pressure hose rolled into a coil that small so if
thats any indication as to the flexibility you are already at a +1

Isn't Kevlar hydroscopic? What happens if the fibers get exposed?

Hi,

You're right that it is but given the highly abrasion resistant cover and crimped end fittings, the kevlar inside won't be exposed easily. Also, the kevlar inside has been coated to aid bonding, so there's another layer for the water / moisture to go through.

NBR rubber, which you find on most mid- to high-end rubber hoses and is in much more direct contact with water is also not very moisture friendly. But it takes a lot of moisture for a long time without any dry-down to bring any noticeable effects to both the rubber and kevlar.

There are have been a couple of special application high pressure water hoses braided with Kevlar and no issues have been reported.

However, you have a point and we are keeping a check on that with the long term testing we are doing.

Thank you.

Haha, great! We hadn't realised that just coiling the hose would become a selling point. Thank you. Looking forward to your test report!

Comes in a very tight coil for sure. In my testing Ive found that the hose shows next to no memory once layed out and will coil easily for storage. Flexibility-wise, the hose is a winner.

Hi Everyone,

I received my beta BluShield pressure washer hose last week and had a chance to try it out over the weekend. Below are some comments:

The pressure washer hose arrived in great condition all nicely wrapped up which was great to see.
IMG_20181016_1906265 by Bob , on Flickr

When I took the hose out of the plastic it had a very soapy type feel. I am assuming this is from the manufacturing process but if it could be avoided I think it would just enhance the overall new purchase experience.

The hose ends both showed some rust inside the threads and and on the inside bore. Before installed any fittings I cleaned up all the surfaces with a wire brush and then wrapped the threads with some plumbers tape.
IMG_20181016_1908008 by Bob , on Flickr

I was going to mount it to my current wall mounted pressure washer system (see below) but before I removed the hose I wanted to try everything out.
IMG_20181016_1911149 by Bob Reiter, on Flickr

Although I have not mounted the hose to my Cox Reel, the pressure washer hose also did not come with a swivel which from previous experience makes it very difficult to mount to a hose reel. This could be something to improve upon on the production hose.

I currently a BE 5000 PSI 2 wire hose, a MTM Kobra Jet (old revision) 4000 PSI 1 wire hose and now this new BluShield hose. The thing I was most impressed with was how flexible the new BlueShield hose was. I was very impressed when I received my MTM hose and could not believe how flexible it was and this new BlueShield hose is far more flexible and also much lighter. It makes using the pressure washer very easy.

Being so light. I do have some concerns how well it will hold up over time. Only further testing will be able to prove this. I also found that the light grey outer wrap gets dirty very fast compared to my Kobra Jet. It me is a pressure washer hose so its no big deal but for some people that can bother them. I think for safety it would be nice to have the max pressure and water temperature the hose can handle somewhere on it so no one overloads the hose.

Overall very pleased with it and looking forward to some long term testing.

Hi, Bob.

Thank you for the detailed review. Exactly why we have the beta tests.
Glad to know that the overall impression is nice and we have noted points of feedback. The fittings will be fixed in the final product.

Please keep us posted.
Thanks.
