Had the OSB painted 2 years ago in my barn. Did the trim last year at 4' to cover up the joints of the OSB. Now getting the floor done and was thinking about putting base trim for a more finished look. What did you guys use?

I'm cheap, used a round over router bit on 1x4 pine.
Called it good. You might find a composite base on sale at big boxes even less expensive.

Nomad;
I'm in the same boat as you, deciding on what epoxy to use then base. I am considering 4" aluminum diamond plate for the new 1200 sq ft shop. Yes more expensive but in the overall project cost not a huge increase over the vinyl base I used in my garage. What are you putting on your floor?

I ended up ordering a 160' roll of 4" vinyl from Menard's less than $100 after their 11% rebate.

You can also get 4 foot pieces of the vinyl stuff. Not saying it is wise to buy it that way, but it may be easier to put it up if the pieces were shorter.

I'm using drywall scraps, 8' lengths 4" wide and covering it with black aluminum trim coil. Very happy with it too.

I just used 1 x 4 and eased the top corner with a 1/8 radius router bit. Primed and painted it whit (4 sides) on saw horses then hit it with a finish coat after nailing it up. It actually went pretty quick.

If I was doing this today I'd just use 1 x 4 white PVC trim. https://www.menards.com/main/mouldings/exterior-mouldings/vinyl-moulding/royal-reg-building-products-1-x-8-white-pvc-trim-board/5679850/p-1467147805379-c-9561.htm?tid=-8441797763133609356&ipos=8

No painting, it won't rot if it gets wet. Wait until it goes on sale if you are watching the budget. Hey - Menards has it on sale through today!

I used the 4' Rubber pieces instead of vinyl....it's a little thicker, more durable and contours any irregularities you might have....just my opinion.

I ended up using the composite molding. It cut just like wood and nailed fine with 2" brads to the studs.

Good thread. I'm about to paint the floor in my garage and need to throw up some sort of trim next. Will need something durable that can get wet.

I use vinyl immediately after my floor cures enough to walk. Then I run a clear bead if silicone between the base and freshly coated floor. Keeps water from getting under when I clean the floors

Funny this topic came up, I was struggling with to base or not. I was going to use a 1x6 Smart trim board then set the OSB on top. I also pondered using rubber/vinyl 4" base. As of yesterday skipped the 1x6 and put up the OSB thinking I will base later, the hesitation with a thicker base is setting anything up against the wall later.
I did install the 1x6 Smart trim in a friends garage over sheet rock, caulked the bottom to the slab works great to hose out the space.

Another option is to run your coating up the wall 4 or 6". It looks best in a Full Flake format.
If you do this, tackle the receiver coat and flake portion ahead of the floor, then complete the floor, then clear all at once.

I used 1x6 pressure treated. It was originally sitting directly on concrete but recently pulled it and set again when I redid my floors with pvc tiles. I just painted it the same as wall color. It’s not great ... not like in my finished areas with true base molding but tolerable for what it is. I didn’t caulk it to the wall like you’d do to fill gaps with regular molding. Don’t care if it gets wet and don’t worry about it if it sits on concrete.
