This may have been posted already, but this is a great

I do the same thing with the tape - but I add another piece at the 'lip'. When I am done, I just fold that piece down over the other pieces and it seals the debris up nicely

Not saying these ideas aren't good, but I just do what I need to do and then use the shop vac to **** up anything that fell.

I bet at least 50 percent of the time I forget to do any of the "catch the drill dust" hacks and as I start on the second or third hole I am like, oh well, just make a mess and **** it up with the shop vac.

Which by the way, you have to do anyway because not all the dust from drilling a wall will end up in the tape/bag/hack. It is just a bit less messy and helps keep the dust sort of contained in one area.

That, and if I am not paying attention, my one cat LOVES to jump up and swat the bag full of drill dust off the wall if he thinks he can reach it. So I have to keep the shop vac around for that too.

Paper grocery bag works for me to capture all the dust. I just wipe the wall around the hole with a wet rag to clean up anything that is stuck to the wall but with this method I get zero on the floor or whatever furniture or stuff may be below the hole I'm drilling.

Utah...SNOW BLOWS!
Similar here but I use a paper grocery bag. Opening is nice and big so it catches lots of debris.

I've done this too...when I remember to before I start that first hole. Most of the time, I remember after that first hole or two, then it's just "oh well, now I may as well make my mess bigger". :D

I fold up a paper towel, get it slightly damp and hold it against the wall under where I am going to drill. Works great with drywall.
