That’s the only one we get too. I’ve seen Lowe’s ones used as portable crappers at camp sites though. They seem okay for that

That's not all that bad of price considering the cost to clean one. A trick if you arecleaning oil buckets is sawdust, oil try isn't too bad either, rub it around. Sawdust prolly is a better finish.

Not in store. I'm sure Texans will be shocked to hear this, but outside of Texas most people don't seek out generic Texas branded things. We don't really care about Texas...
I've always found it interesting how into their state Texans are. "Texas Edition" everything seems to sell well there, even if the only difference is the addition of a star sticker.

After a complete reno of a second floor apartment 10 years ago, I think I'm set for life on buckets. Most of them say "Easy Finish", I don't think Lowes sells that compound any more. Too bad, it was $5 cheaper than USG and just as good. Then I have some grey 5gal

I get mine at Firehouse Subs. Their food grade and they only cost $2. The only downside is they smell like pickles.

Years back ZZ Top had a world tour map and the entire US was highlighted but it was labelled "Texas." I always thought that was cool.

Because, unlike some states, Texans are actually proud of their heritage. I get it, and am totally fine with it. You see similar from NY and VT.

I lived for a year in Brownsville and another year in Dallas. I have also spent about 3 years, in 2-3 week increments, along the southern border of Texas. My favorite town is El Paso.

If you have a Firehouse Subs near you, they sell their pickle buckets for $2.00 and donate the money to charity. It even comes with a lid but it smells like pickles for a while. I just let them sit outside and air out.

We have a seal-tite manufacturing plant nearby that gives pallets of buckets to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Great way to buy buckets really cheap. Last batch i bought were some camo covered 3 gal for about a buck each. Lost all of them as soon as i put them down though...

I'm glad each time I've been in Texas I've never run into people like that. They were just nice, normal people that weren't compensating with some sort of misplaced pride...

I have a plain blue lowes bucket. It's used for my dust deputy. Aside from that, I don't use 5 gal buckets.
I find having the state outline on a bucket a bit disrespectful, kind of like having the flag on clothing.

For those of us not in Texas, we have no use for a bucket with Texas on it. Plain blue with Lowes on it works just fine.
That doesn't sound like much of a down side.

If it wasn't for the fact that I see them stacked up in the aisles, I wouldn't know what a Lowe's or Home Depot bucket looks like. I have never paid for a bucket. I have probably thrown away 100 food grade 5 gallon buckets over the last 25 years. They just seem to show up.

Think you are all looking at this all wrong. Each 20L pail yields about 26 X 750 ML bottles. You bottle it at one go, and put it in your cellar if you have one. If you (and your friends) are regular wine drinkers, you know 26 bottles does not last long. Cost was $60/bucket last time I bought some. It comes in red or white.
Bottling was kind of a social thing, a meeting of geezers in a garage, down the street. Last time we did that there were a dozen pails empty at the end. One guy operates the siphon hose, another readies the bottles, and another corks them......it was an afternoon affair. Each paid for their own, but we made one pick-up. The others bottled for their kids too. It has kind of come to a halt as the member with the garage is nearing his last lap around the track.
