Drill backwards a little. I had a square shank bit slip a little and it kind of wedged itself in the chock. 2 seconds drilling backwards in pine let me take it out.

Chucks can get stuck if dirt gets in the mechanism. Sometimes, spraying with penetrating oil inside helps.

First thing I'd do is soak it in penetrating oil or WD-40 and tap on it.

I've had the jaws get stuck on a few of my cordless drills that I got unstuck with either a vice or large channell-locks, but its almost impossible to do that operation without permanently jacking up the chuck to some extent.
