What's funny is, he says that about the ProTo ratchet and then recommends an SK that, wait for it...has a knurled handle. :wtf:

Proto's is much much sharper? Not sure what's so hard to understand.

But no I was being sarcastic about it cutting your hands.

It was sarcasm and something I forget sarcasm can't be read through text., my bad guys.

No worries!! there have been people in the past/present that have complained about sharp knurling and were serious and we're a bunch of asses that read a post and pounce...

Besides Proto has about four different styles of knurled handles these days. You've got your standard old fashioned regular US made old school proto knurled handle. You've got your Italian made palm control ratchet knurled handle. Then there's the Proto premium pear head handle with two bands of knurling one at the top and the other at the bottom of the handle. then you've the uber expensive proto precision 90 series handle that is probably the best of the bunch with two knurled bands in the center of the handle.

I like the old knurling on the SK ratchets from the S-K Wayne era. The new ratchets, the knurling is almost smooth.

Yeah. "Slice your hand" is laughingly overstated. I shoulda known it was sarcasm, but one sees all sorts of shite posted here. I guess everyone has their preferences...

I have SK, ProTo, Facom ProTo, and they're all about the same to me.

I've had some old bottom dollar imports that are pretty sharp, if that means anything. but proto is nothing like that.

I have soft hands, I don't actually work on cars or anyrb ing really as a profession. I am a barber, I wear gloves when I wrench on stuff. Not because I'm afraid to get my hands dirty but I don't want to look unprofessional. So my hands are kinda soft tbh. So to me the older style proto knurling feels like it would feel more textured then SK. That's all I'm getting at but I was unaware they have different knurling types. Thank you Fedwrench for educating me about that.

Coming from a guy who prefers gripped and smooth ratchets my knurling comment really shouldn't be taken as expert advice.
