Whatsup guys I need some help ASAP I was working on my grandfathers GMC today and I was removing the Thermostat housing bolt first one came out ok and the second one snapped off completely from the stud to the head , In other words snapped in half and left less than 1/8 of an inch bolt sticking out of the manifold, The bolts are very rusted. This car has been a pain to me with other probs. How can I get this little stud out Ive tried a few different things bolt out spray/vise grips and it wont even grab on enough to turn it. Thanks in advance

Drop a nut on top of the stud or nub and weld it to it!!

I'm certain that it is fixed, but some people for some unknown reason find it is fun to dredge up old posts and then try to bring them to life. Personally, I would like to see all posts over 60 or 90 days locked down so this can't happen.

Omar just bought his tray, and every site that I visited that sold Bend Pak showed only the sliding tray for the past 2+ years. This is why I asked, I was wondering if it is a newer design. Guess that I will have to ask Jeff for an explanation.

The biggest mistake was using a pair of Vise grips to try to remove it, this is where your 6" Rigid pipe wrench would bite, and give you a chance of removing it.

Spray it with panther pee, give it a few good raps with a hammer, and it should come out.

Vise grips are seriously overrated for anything other than clamping.

you can try this link its a pretty good tutorial for this situation

i've done this exactly many times - most on VW exhaust manifolds!
it is probly the best technique if the manifold is on the bench - on the car is another story.
