I'm new to the world of vintage tools/restorations but i'm glad i found this forum. Here are some pics from this years Frog Follies. The Frog Follies is the largest pre-1949 car show in the world. If you're ever in Southern Indiana, in late August, you should check it out. I'm not really in to rat rods or the custom cars but there's a huge swap meet. I was on a budget but I think i got some good deals. I also learned an important lesson: don't buy a bench vise 5 minutes after showing up OR make the extra trip back to the car instead of carrying it around for 2 hours. It's a smaller one but it didn't take long before I saw the err in my ways.

The clamps were $1 each, I didn't realize how trashed the Cincinnati one was until i got home. I got them with the vulcan #1 for a total of $5.

The Littletown vise was $15. Not sure if that was a good price or not but the guy was nice and it seemed fair at the time. I'm growing my collection and figured it would be a good piece to work on my restoration skills as it wasn't in too bad of shape.

I got all the pliers plus the pair of NOS Italian linesman's which are still in the box and have never been opened dated April 1952 $30. i'm afraid to open them. they are wrapped in wax paper. the seller opened another box so i could look see what they looked like. I might try and do an unboxing video on those.

Not pictured are a cool pair of WWI communication pliers which I got with the pliers lot.

Some really nice pliers - Kraeuter, Utica and Pexto are all top quality.

You won't find much love around here for any make or model of exposed screw vise, unless it's old, heavy, and rare.

Did you get all the parts for the pipe vise?

you did good well done!:thumbup: As much as I would love to see more pictures of the pliers inside that box, the other half of me is saying leave it alone and don't take the wrapper off.

Any way you could make the vertical box become horizontal so I could read it better.

Good job nice haul.

Interesting and unusual to see those pliers marked 'US zone'. I have a box marked the same way. Post war Germany was divided up by the allies for a while so those pliers are from that 1947 to 1949 period.

I'm confused. Why are you identifying the pliers in the NOS box as Italian? All of those markings are consistent with US Army Signal Corps. 6R4513A is a Signal Corps stock number and TL-13A is a Signal Corps part number for 6" linemans' pliers.

If I recall correctly they are stamped made in Italy. He opened another identical box , I’m very curious now as I’m questioning my recollection.

Hmm. I am equally curious. I'll ask around with some colleagues who are bigger Signal Corps niche collectors than me, to make sure I am not missing something, but I am unaware of the US Army Signal Corps (or any other Army Branch or Service) buying any tools made in Italy (or any other foreign company) in 1952.

As a collector, I can understand your reluctance to open a NOS box, but on the other hand, it's sometimes difficult to know the true identity of the contents, and assess a value without knowing for sure what's in it and who made it. Your video instincts are good. If the box is taped, I would use a very sharp knife and slice the tape open very delicately, on a seam, and in an inconspicuous location (e.g., not near the markings), so that the box can retain as much of its NOS integrity as possible. If you mean the box is open, but the wax paper is sealed, that can be opened similarly and delicately.

What does the stamp (edit: on the box) say? Something something Marshall?

Well I opened it up and here’s what I found. There is a very faint stamp on the box that says something Marshall importer.
