Running behind schedule and only have the lift for a few more days. Trying to cut normal four inch crown molding for the peak of the garage and have it fit. Roof is a 9/12 pitch. Have a dual bevel miter saw. Is it cut with the fence as the wall or upside down? Bevel and degree estimate to get me close? Is it just an inside corner like in the house? Took a couple shots at it and not looking good

Bottom of crown at top of fence. I believe a 10/12 is 39 degrees, so 9/12 is a tad less.

The angle would be half of that. Cut a couple of scrap pieces at 18, 19 see where your at.

If you are doing the gable end, set your miter angle to just under 37 degrees and use the table as the wall.

With a dual bevel saw I would cut it on the flat. That way you don't have to worry about getting the molding set against the fence the same way every time. Online calculators will give the angles for your saw based on your installation situation.

I use a simple APP on the Iphone that works like magic with my dual bevel sliding miter saw. I measure the angle of the wall, and angle of my moulding, plug that in and it tells me where and how to set my saw. I cut everything flat and it comes out perfect every time. Best part is, it shows you a picture of exactly how everything should be set, before you make the cut. No more wasted pieces, plus I can account for all the crooked walls in the house.

What is the name of the app?

Cut it at the same angle it sits on the wall. If the liter miter saw motor hits the trim while cutting, flip it and cut. Buy a jig.

Sorry about that... i had to look it up on my wife's iphone, since i moved on to Android. The one i used was Crown Molding by Fisherlea Systems. You have to pay, but you also have to pay for screwdrivers, hammers, nail guns etc.

You also have to pay to replace moldings that get cut wrong too! Anything that helps to cut down on the wasted pieces of messed up crown molding is well worth a few bucks for an App!

Thanks for making the suggestion about the App! I honestly would never have even looked for such a thing until you suggested it.

Well......I ****. I tried several times using a few methods mentioned. I had a ton of work to do by end of day and just didn’t have the patience to figure out what the heck I was doing wrong. Used a oscillating saw to cut the angles on the garage. I know what a hack! Not noticeable from the ground. I will have to get some sticks and figure it out. Thanks again
