Hi,
Long time lurker first time posting.

I just had some engineered hardwood installed and I noticed cracks next to where I believe they were nailed down. Most boards look fine but enough have these cracks to where I wanted to research it more.

Are cracks like this to be expected or did the installer do a sloppy job?

Looks like it could be damage from a hammer (or other type of tool) used to tap the flooring into place.

I would take a stain pen and go over those marks. Soon the entire floor will have “character” and you won’t notice anymore. If there are enough of them I would address it with the installer.

I agree, it was likely done when it was installed. In any case I would contact the installer and see what he/she says about it.
