So a few months back I needed a large socket to take a ball off a drop hitch apart. Found somebody selling a three-quarter inch socket set for 30 bucks went out and picked it up and it is a mixture of old SK, Williams, plomb, Proto, Snap-on but the gem was the 3/4" Drive Pebble Plomb ratchet. The guy had told me that it had bounced around in the back of the crummy for a logging crew for the last 35 years that he has known probably longer I took the ratchet apart and rebuilt it, clean it up and it works flawlessly. next I ended up finding this set of rolling tool boxes that was marked as a Waterloo set after picking them up for a decent price I came to find out the top box is a Craftsman and the bottom box I am still unsure of the tags were missing but I was able to find a Craftsman logo faintly and a sticker still attached to the top box any help identifying the bottom box would be great. Then a week later I hit up a second hand store and thought I hit the jackpot paid $11 for over a hundred pieces of vintage sockets wrenches ratchets and pliers Etc. Last week I found this little top box for sale for 40 bucks it was listed as a Waterloo and the handles somewhat resembled my other bottom box so I went to check it out they did not match but I bought the Box anyways when I got home and removed all the stickers I discovered it was a Montgomery Ward's powr Kraft toolbox there was quite a bit of peeling paint on the outside but the real bummer was the bottom drawer and the bottom of the Box were covered in surface rust, not all the way through but this deserved a paint job. Here is my finished product after a week long job of sanding painting wet sanding painting clear coating sanding and more clear coating. all the drawer slides were very gummy so everything got
dismantled and degreased the previous owner when a little overboard on the white lithium so I had quite a bit of scrubbing once cleaned up relubed
the box works flawlessly I had to install a new lock and finding the proper length Hook was impossible to find so I fabbed my own hook up for the lock works great. I love the spring loaded top on the locking mechanism even though this is not a ball bearing slide toolbox it operates very well and seems extremely well-built more so even then my older Craftsman. If anybody can put a date to this box that would be awesome too.
