Now that makes sence ! I looked through 80 pages on E Bay , found 3 . All had 2 screws on back . But they were #326 which I believe is 4 in wide Jaw . Mine again is #328 and a 5 in Jaw . Now I could drill & tap two new holes and things would be fine . But I dont want to rush into that just yet Id like to know more first . On another note . I like the paint work on yours . Where & what did you sourse there ?

Color is Rustoleum Verde Green
I own 75, 100, 125, & 150mm FPU vises, doesn't matter what "brand" (Bsion-Bial, Fowler, Hi-Test) they all were manufactured by Bison-Bial. All of mine are identical in the rear with 2 screws securing the vise nut in the body.

My Saturday find: A No. 53-1/2 Prentiss Homeowners exposed screw vise. I can't recall seeing one of these. its heavy for a little 3-1/2" homeowners at 18 lbs!

Is it marked Meriden conn on the bottom of swivel base? It's one of the Parker Prentiss vises I think.

That one looks good also ! Thanks . I agree . And believe it should have 2 bolts in the rear . I guess thats why there are 2 holes in what you refer to as the
vise nut . I guess illl have to be carefull in alignment and drill & tap 2 more holes & plug the center one . Is it at all possible we both are missing something here ? As i would not think that was manufactured in error

Haha! It was gone before I got to the link! But glad one of ours got it and not a lurker!

When you get it Mayer, can you get me the dimensions of the cutter?

You bet I will!

Thanks guys! Taken a few years to put the collection together.
Got a few more in various stages.

Well that's it. Burn1 officially wines and dines his vises better than I do. Candlelit bubblebaths? I can't hope to compete! :lol_hitti

I appricat your suggestion . Although I guess due to age I can not find the one I have . I did clean up the Jaw and can now read " Test # 328 & Made in Poland "

But i still have to figure out the location holes and there alignment :lol_hitti

Don't do a damned thing to that vise until you strip the *** end paint off. There may be secrets under the paint. If there is only one screw in the back then thats how the factory made it, but as I said, the vise has secrets yet to give up.

I picked up this pipe vise yesterday. I almost disregarded it from seeing the photo in the ad. Looked like a cheesy import.

Turns out to be new unused and of good quality. Galt Malleable Company Limited. No71.

Assume it’s made in Ontario, Canada but can’t seem to find any info. Anyways I paid $30 and the seller was only 20 minutes round trip from my home.

I’ll square tube receiver mount it vertically so it can be located in any of four different 90 degree locations.

He ruined it by dumping a gallon of Gloss Black on it.

Well he didn't completely ruin it, but he did create the new owner, if there is one, a big job on top of a pretty good premium just to purchase it.---But then again, I'm always a little suspicious of a multi layered, 100% paint job.---Never know what is hiding under there.:dunno:

Well here is a picture of a fpu Bison vise with only one set screw. It’s not my vise just a picture I found on eBay. ae8ea6773c784075947045db03d92b13.jpg

To Rusty & Joe Believe me I looked for any tell tale signs of other holes . None were found ! What I did was , I drilled a 3rd hole in the center of the worm nut .

Removed the wood from the jaws . Now it fully closes & operates as it should . Who knows what may have happened during its life span . But Im very happy owning this one . I have cleaned it up . And im not going to repaint it as its only original once . Ill post a few pictures ASAP Im glad one was found with only one hole in the rear . Maybe the worm was replaced in its past with the 2 hole one . Thus the need to add the wood in the Jaws . Unfortunatly there is no one in the know to ask

can you tell he's single? :pimpflash
:

One does not have to be single to have vises inside the house :bounce:

My office , my kingdom (truth be told , there was a comment from upper management but the response was I do not comment on what you do with your home office and expect the same in return :))

Good day folks. Have a question about a Reed vise that I ran across, a little pricey and I forgot to take a picture but it said “pat. Pending “ on the right side with the Reed Co. logo and all Reeds that I can remember have the patent number cast in with a date or multiples. On the left side it ha “105”, did not have No. as I have also seen most of the time. Very early Reed pre patent granted??? Thoughts?
Hope you all have a fabulous day and may your unicorn appear in your garage 😁. Josh

Here is one that I have never seen before and which is not in the Vise Spreadsheet. A Holland 110 combination vise. 5" jaws, 100-120 lbs.

I bought it but do not have it yet as it is in Maine.

So...
Let me get this straight...
You’re posting on the vise pages and asking a bunch of vise addicts if you should add another vise to your collection?
OF COURSE! BUY IT!

After searching the net . I have found several FPU's that have only one screw in the back My theory of apossible change of the worm may be possible . I have also seen pictures showing wood spacers between the Jaw & plate . With that I decided to add one hole rather than two And all is good now Maybe others can check the numbers on there worm nut to compare to mine . Thanks for all the help on this !
