Before you spout off "Fram is ****!" like the internet expert we all know you are, I encourage you to understand that ToughGard is not ExtraGard. Research this first.
Do the Tough Guard filters still have cardboard end caps?
IIRC the higher end Fram filters are good filters, lower end Fram filters are the ones that have/had quality issues.
Rather than trying to keep track of which Fram filters are OK I simply avoid Fram filters.
A quick Google search for
Tough Guard fram I just did doesn't make me want to do more research. Whether true or not it, I wasn't inspired to do more research.
Easier for me to just buy other brands. I prefer filters with stamped steel end caps over those with cardboard end caps. YMMV

"So for those that say the tough guard is not to bad... it is. It has the same problems as the regular orange fram."
"I am not saying it does not happen to others, but fram is well known for this problem and this problem still carries on in their high end Tough Guard filter that some people think is ok."
"Yes that is the thing. This is common for fram oil filters. Poeple were/are saying the tough guard is a better filter but it still has the same problems of the cheap orange fram."
