It looks like it's coming along nicely. Is the wainscoting green or a dark gray? What will the top color be?
Wainscott is a Dark Green and the other color is a Clay color, something driftwood is the actual name of the color.
It'll look killer then. Those are basically the colors of our house. The wife originally wanted clay but after she saw the samples, she liked the savanah wicker better (it's slightly lighter than clay) but I think it's too light. Hopefully, things will go right this year and I can get my garage done to match this year.

Have been following this post with great interest. Had way too much time on my hands over Christmas so I went on line and found a program called Smart Draw. They had a seven day free trial so here's my version of the 60X140, a car hobbyist's dream.

Is all of that shop in the same zip code?? Man that's a nice shop you've have started there. With 110 acres you'll need that bathroom--too far to the "johnny house" for sure. We'll be checking you out all along.

Am I the only one or does any other ones see something like this as artistic over being just a building? I have seen a few of the skeletal structures of some nice builds on here and I find the framing just as nice or nicer looking (artistic). Kind of hard to explain.

Well weather was good to us this week so there was good progress on the Shop, heres a few outside pics.....
North side is coming along.
Office trusses are finished, soffitt, facia and wainscott done on office section.

Looking Good!!!!! I just hate to see all that wasted space in the rafter area. Granted that'd be more area to heat and cool (if you do so) but man that's still storage area gone. Still WONDERFUL BUILD. I'm in the mind building stages of a 60' X 80' shop myself. I love checking out everyone's builds because it always gives me new ideas and possibilities that I never thought of.

i kinda have to chuckle when you say here is my truck parked for size comparison and you just happen to own the largest non commercial truck avalible from Ford. That's like using Shaquelle O'neal as a size comparison of the truck haha!! (see its not that big as he hits his head on the door jam as he tries to duck into the driver's seat!!!)

Okay I have a few pics from this last weeks work. One day the week before we got all of the top and bottom plates cut and layed out (no pics). Monday we started framing up the straight runs of walls. Tuesday we framed up other long wall and set headers. Heres a few pics
Let me go ahead and ask a dumb question. In this picture I see what looks to be one single stud going from your silplate to your to plate. How are you doing this? Are you using a 16' 2x4? Now in general if you have a wall that is larger then 16 foot how would you frame that?
I am in the site works and dirt works world so this isn't something I see too often. When we want to build a taller structure we go with steel. Shop is looking great!

LOL I shoulda parked a Ranger next to it to make the Shop look even bigger.
With a 60' clearspan you cant put alot of weight up there and if you have an attic storage truss engineered to do it, it becomes expensive storage space due to the cost of the trusses (I asked about it, they were hesitant to even design it) If you didnt need clearspan and could add a center support that would change parameters. With 14+ inches of insulation it also makes for another challenge. I will have a mezzenine area and pallet racking to assist with storage issues.

What is the ceiling material, and just what kind of cost is involved in something like this, $20, $30, $40 per square foot??

I have about 22-24 dollars a square ft. estimated, I am still mostly on track probably closer to the $24 due to adding nicer things.

And what is the white ceiling material on some of the more recent photos?? Is it metal or wood based??
It is ribbed metal like the exterior, but it doesnt have a warranty on the paint, often called liner panel.

All the metal is on, they delivered the overhead doors today, so will start on them next week.
I need to get some new pics to update thread, just got home from Arizona yesterday, so I need to get back on track. Sure could use a change in weather also, too much snow, snows 3-4' deep on each side of drive, drifts completely shut each night. Cant wait for Spring!!!!
You can just build a wall on top of a wall if you know what I mean.
That's how I see it done all the time in homes with 2 story front foyers, or 2-3 story tall rear full dormer wall/windows walls, generally homes with a lake/river view and the entire rear of the house is windows.
Check your local codes/engineer obviously before taking my word tho.

I think you would need to put some cross pieces in side the wall as fire stops also consider that you could off set the longer studs and join the studs together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Thanks for the compliments, sorry I havent updated pics lately, been extremely busy, unfortunetly not on the shop as much as I would like. I will try and get an update soon. Getting close to urethane spray foam, maybe in the next week or so. Then I can get to working on the floor.
I did buy a few Jib cranes to put in the shop, used in an auction, they will be a nice addition, no more breaking my back moving things...LOL

Sorry for not getting back with updates, I have gotten alot done and have some pics to prove it...LOL I have been extremely busy as of lately, but come Thursday I will be down for a while, so I hope to get caught up on updates after my knee surgery. Seems I will have alot of time on my hands then. I have been working to get ahead around here because I will be outta commission for 6-8 weeks. Might be hanging out here alot catching up on everyone else's projects, I have been looking forward to seeing everyones progress as well.
