Looks like Tekton just released their 90T flex ratchets. I'm liking their standard 90t ratchets (I'm not a pro, just a home user) and will definitely be buying these, too. Now they need to update the sockets so I can buy a set to keep in the truck.

And I still continue to wonder why Snap-On charges 6 times as much....

I was hoping for an 18 inch 1/2. Guess I'll try a Duralast...

I grabbed a Duralast flex in 3/8 when they first came out and it's been fantastic for my use, which is essentially anything around the house, all 4 of our vehicles and whatever our friends bring or drive by to have me fix. The 1/2 is a monster, but I'd be confident about it's capability.

A giant groove in the middle; why?

Not bad looking and spec ratchets for the price .
2 or 3 handle lengths and locking versions be good .

Wonder why the 3/8" and 1/2" are on the short side?

From the Tekton site:
Working Handle Lengths
To be clear and consistent about the size of our ratchets (and breaker bars), we use the actual working length (center of drive tang to end of handle), not the overall length of the tool. This avoids any misleading overstatement of size or capability caused by the difference between these measurements. As a result, Tekton tools may be a little longer than other similarly described tools in the market.

Do these have the backwards reverse lever like the HF ratchets?

I really don't need another ratchet, but that head is pretty small. I may be interested at $20 or whatever amazon sells them at.

Hopefully these are better than others their 72 tooth ones which are horrible.

What issues do you have with them? I have several and have never had an issue at all. They seem just as smooth as some of my more expensive brands.

I'm also curious, I have a couple 72T Tekton rebrands and I feel they're pretty damn good for the money I paid.

The main issue I had with the 72t Tekton was the selector switch was backwards to every other ratchet I own (Snap-on, Craftsman, Matco, Williams, etc) which are all 'on' (clockwise) to the left and 'off' (counter-clockwise) to the right. The Tekton flex 72t I bought was the opposite, like a HF ratchet. I didn't even want to try to get used to that so I gave it away.

FWIW ptgarcia says the Tekton 90t selector is what I'd consider normal.

I like the fact the flex head handle/head has a black hex fastener opposed to a pressed pin so you can adjust tension and also hopefully take the head off say a 12" flex ratchet and fit it to your Tecton 24" breaker bar. I've made up some cheap long ratchets that way. I don't mind the handle design, they look tough.

If there's one thing I should give Carlyle credit for, it's their ability to resist the urge to put a groove or set of grooves in their ratchet handle. Finally somebody came to their senses.

Their new long ratchets, both quick release and non, come in at roughly 18 inches for the 3/8 and about 24 inches for the 1/2 according to their website.

Yes but, those aren't flex heads

Often 15-18 inches is just too long to use for 3/8 drive in many applications but can be handy for reach in a few. I am eyeing the 1/2 drive extra long 1/2 drive though.:bounce:

Why does GM charge more for an Escalade than for an LTZ tahoe with all the same options and ride quality?

Because they can...

Better you're WAY overgeneralizing. You cannot get all the same options on an LTZ tahoe than you can on an escalade. I worked for GM for 14 years. The first 13 with Chevy and the last year with Cadillac.

You cannot get surround vision on a tahoe, you cannot get massage seats on a tahoe, the escalade has a bigger engine, nicer and more expensive headlamps and tail lamps. The entire interior is better on an escalade. Better leather, better carpet, better door panels, better dash. Full digital instrument cluster.
You can talk about "ride quality" but they don't use the same part number shocks. The list goes on and on, but I've driven both and if you can afford it the escalades are worth the extra $$$. If you can't afford the premium, then a tahoe is a worthy substitute.

Just yesterday I needed a 3/8 flex and so was gonna order here but for whatever reason didn't want to pay the $5 shipping after running thru their cart. I'd rather be at $25 shipped

I actually abandoned my cart yesterday because I didn't want to pay shipping. Can confirm that once you make an account, shipping is indeed free.

Makes me sad how fast all these other companies are rolling out their various 90T variants, and SK still hasn't released anything but their short handled 3/8", and it's been over a year.

Hmmm, I wonder if there any of these left at the local FFH store ? I might need to stop and check on the remaining stock that's 50% off.

I might have to pick one up. Wouldn't mind a new short 1/4" ratchet

No.

I like the looks of these ratchets but, I would like longer versions like 12-13 inches for 3/8 and 17-18 for 1/2 drive.

I agree. I have the Tekton 1/2" in 24" length and while I can say it's been a beast and easily handled being pushed past 300 ft lbs of torque, sometimes the length is just a little too much. 18" would be ideal for my needs.

Just got the 3/8 flex head 8 inch today and all I can say is "WOW" what a nice ratchet compared to the other Tekton 3/8 ratchet I have in 72T. This new ratchet flex joint spring is tight and keeps the head at the desired angle almost like it is locked. I am impressed and have to say if Tekton ups their sockets and offers six point combination wrenches I will be a full Tekton all tool guy. I have a bunch of different stuff from HF to Craftsman to SK and Tekton is so far my favorite overall brand. I only buy their Taiwan stuff but their quality and quick response from CS regarding a question has been top notch. Makes me want to sell all my 72T ratchets and replace them with the new 90 tooth.

I just got the 90 tooth 3/8" stubby, and besides a blemish in the chrome, that thing is built like a tank. Very smooth and surprisingly heavy. I haven't used it yet, but it will probably be one of my go to ratchets due to its compact size.

I ordered the 3/8 flex head a couple of days ago. Supposed to be here tomorrow. I need/want it to replace headlight lens on my truck. Dang Ford engineers. I have a 1/4 flex head but you can always use another tool.
