Finally got my Syncrowave 350 hooked up to the panel.

The cord that came on it from the previous owner was a good bit undersized, only #8 conductors. He was running it on a 50 amp circuit. Must not have done any aluminum with it, these will pop a 50 in pretty short order on AC over 200 amps. I had my electrician buddy get me 20' of 2/3, and a 100 amp 2 pole breaker. I wish I had 480v delta right now! This low voltage **** is for the birds!

Nice made in USA SOOW cord. 90°C rated, should be able to carry 130 amps. Most of my equipment is 3 phase, I forgot how much juice it takes to run stuff on single phase. This is by far the most power hungry tool I have. It has the 100 amp breaker all to itself, and the beefiest power cord of anything I own. For comparison, my Dynasty runs all day on 200 amp output with a 20 amp 3ph input, my 350P on 30 amps 3ph.

Came with this nice Weldcraft torch. Rated to 320 amps, but still uses the smaller hardware of the 250 amp torches. I liked these older Crafter Series torches, the triangular shape of the handle makes it easier to keep the torch angle pointed where it should be.

Now, between this and the 350P with the push-pull gun, I should be able to tackle bigger aluminum weld jobs. :bounce:

Nice job[emoji106][emoji106]

I’m still waiting to hardwire my 351. Just have to get my electrical “wants” organized before I call in an electrician.

That's a really clean 351. Those are killer old welders.

from the looks of both those blue machines you guys have a dirty and a clean side of shop, that are separate?

Not really, but I try to take care of my stuff. In my case, I just got this machine, so it hasn't had a chance to get dusty.

I don't do much "dirty" work, I don't do any woodwork or body work, those are the real dust makers. I try to do my grinding in such a fashion that it doesn't just cover my tools in grit.

Once in a while I take the covers off machines and blow out the dust and give them a wipe down with a dust cloth.

I had to get 60amp 400v 3 phase power to run those down here in NZ.

Yeah, for grins I put a meter on it and pegged the pedal on 300 amps AC. It pulled 150 amps on my 208 wye panel. That extra voltage really helps keep the amps down. Ohms law and all that.

I'll probably have to upgrade the service if I actually need that much AC TIG capacity. I really can get by with 250 or so. Anything heavier than that I'll probably mig weld anyway.

My next shop will need to have 480v Delta, I have too much equipment that can run the high voltage to not have it.
