Craftsman roll cab locks - want all the same code

Hi,

I've got two 26" Craftsman stacks and between them I have three keys. Is there any way to order locks by key code? Sears says no. I would like to at least have each stack all the same code, but if I could get all six pieces the same code that would be great (hence my question, if you just order the lock sets you only get four cylinders, so the odds of ordering two and having them be all the same code, or one of them being the same as a code I already have, are about nil.) If anyone knows a source for these let me know, I bet having a local locksmith rekey a couple cylinders would be a lot more expensive than buying new cylinders.

I just went through this with my 10 different locks on several cabinets. I submitted a question on the waterloo website on a saturday morning and they responded to me within the hour. Over the course of several emails back and forth, they established what lock sets I needed and I gave them the key number to match to. I am at the point where I must now call them to place the actual order. I would definitely recommend you reach out to them.

I'm not sure if these are Waterloo made or Chinese. Or does it matter?

so you've used them? I saw them in a web search, didn't know if they were legit or not. If you can confirm that they're worth dealing with I'd really appreciate it. I could probably just buy two cylinders "by the numbers" and be OK.
Yes, I've used them several times. They are great to work with. I've ordered replacement keys for my Kennedy boxes and for my desk at work. You can search by manufacturer and order by lock number.

I can't answer that question. My boxes range from late 90's to 2012-3. There was a sticker on the inside right of the top drawer that I supplied to waterloo and it happened that all of mine were waterloo.

Apparently I'd have to replace all the locks, but I could get all six the same...

I'll have a look when I get home. I honestly don't remember where these were made. They are the 75 lb. drawer models with ball bearing slides. They were on sale for cheap a couple years back and I got rid of my homeowner grade boxes because I'm probably overloading even these. MY gut feeling is they're not Waterloo though the one glaring flaw is that the casters attach with sheetmetal screws not nuts and bolts. I know this because I bought another bottom Friday night as they were on sale again and I kind of needed it (I previously had one bottom, two tops, two middles) and as soon as I went to assemble it I remember drilling those holes out and using bolts on my old one, along with for the side handle. We shall see... maybe they are the same locks anyway. The pics on the Waterloo web site do look exactly like my locks

Well I can't tell but the sticker is there so maybe they are Waterloo? I did ask them and yes they will sell cylinders to code and they did get back to me very promptly so this is promising.

Final resolution: turns out my roll cabs are in fact made by Waterloo and they were exceptionally helpful (and even had the Craftsman parts sheets on file) I finally got the cabs all moved into one place, assessed the minimum order that would get all pieces keyed to the same code, and placed the order today. It was only slightly more than the 3 piece lock set from Craftsman for 3 pieces from Waterloo but I was able to specify my key code so now all pieces are keyed the same. Also, apparently the bottom chest is now discontinued which is probably why Sears is selling them at about half price right now, but I'm not complaining - if I buy any more pieces it's going to be another intermediate chest not the bottom anyway.

If anyone at home is following along, it's this series right here

So I'm confirming that these were Waterloo made and that you can buy the locks direct from them, and presumably other parts as well, although for anything else it might be just as easy to go through Sears (as long as they're still around.)

That’s a really good price for those. I bought four of the same on sale a few years ago to put under my two Seville workbenches (Sam’s Club). I’ve been very happy with the quality.

Follow up: received my package from Waterloo yesterday and now all my stuff is keyed the same. Got two bottom chest cylinders and one top chest cylinder for $38.80 shipped. This is more expensive than one three piece set from Sears Parts but I was able to specify keying for each and I also got six more keys so if I ever lose all of them it's my own damn fault :) and I now have two stacks that all open on the same key which is nice.

71goldss, I was told by Waterloo that that bottom was discontinued, that is probably why it is so inexpensive. Although I may go ahead and purchase another if the prices stay low to go under what's her face's Rem-Line as it appears that I can use one of my "leftover" lock cylinders for that if my eye does not deceive me.

BTW it looks like you could rekey the bottom cab locks yourself if you had wafers, although then the key wouldn't match the number stamped into the cylinder. The top chest lock does not appear to be able to be disassembled. Well, you could, but getting it back together again would be a trick, as the hook is swaged on.
