I purchased a lathe part on ebay roughly a week ago. At the time I 'won' the auction, my default address was an old address (I recently moved across the country). However, I updated the address before I paid, and the purchase page on ebay shows the correct new address. Paypal also shows the correct address for the transaction.

I just heard from the manager at my old address that it showed up there. :headscrat:wtf:

How did the seller get my old address? When you 'win' an auction, is your address sent to the seller before you decide on shipping & pay? Does the seller get it when they send an invoice at auction close (before you pay)?

check in your ebay profile. The old address may be stuck there. I had the same thing happen with concert tickets. Boy was I pissed, as there was no way to get them in time for the concert.

In short, yes. Ebay and Paypal have slew of addresses saved. You need to not only update the address, but also mark it as "priority".

When the seller sees you paid and they go to print the shipping label, its whatever Paypal priority address is at the time.

If you had the correct address selected and it showed up on the purchase summary, eBay's buggy and screwed up. They should credit you for what you'll be out to have it shipped to your correct address.

I'd call eBay, and they will hopefully correct it. Whatever the form said is not what the seller received at their end of the transaction when they went to ship it. Sounds like a software bug.

That's the weird thing -- I gave the correct address, and it shows the correct address on the purchase summary and on Paypal. The package was sent to an address that does not appear anywhere.

I have a bunch of old addresses on my ebay profile -- i've just never had a package shipped to address A when the order & Paypal both show address B.

Yeah, a ways back I ordered a couple things off ebay and for some reason the shipping addresses went haywire and 3 different orders went to 3 different addresses in 3 different states. Ebay was of course no help whatsoever and Paypal even less so. Long story short I had to dig for a while but finally I got to where I found they both had stored pretty much every address I had lived at for the previous 10+ years and I had to go through and manually delete each and every single one of them.

Parts of Ebay are janky and full if glitches. When I moved I had to go into my Ebay profile and manually change every address on file numerous times. Be sure to hit save or whatever.

Note also, if you had an item listed for sale at your old location (town/state) and you want to relist from your new address, you may have to manually change the item’s location within each individual item listing.

On how the buyer got your old address, if you happened to wait until the end of auction to change your info, the buyer could have already clicked on “Send Invoice” some time after the auction ended which would have displayed your address on file.
