Ok so I am new to electrical but I am trying to pass inspections on a limited budget but I have a Electrician trying to help me and he said attached picture will not pass because to much un fused wire from meter base but it would be ok to do that on the outside of the building? I do not understand that anyways because the length of wire will be the same and I have done drilled the hole for the meter base at the specified height of 5'6" to center of base and the Breaker box is at 6' to top like my electrician asked for so there is no other way on height restraints to do it. He said I can stay under 6ft with breaker box. My question is how else could I do it if I ran it straight from the back of the meter base into the back of breaker box it will put it ether really low or way to high up.

Here's how I would have done it...assuming your service conductors outside the building are underground, come up into the bottom of the meter base, then out the top, through the wall, and directly into the panel through one of those knockouts at the top. I'm not sure why you came into the building that low and then mounted the panel over to the side.

Many AHJs have rules about max length of unfused wire inside the building.

I definitely wouldve done that differently.

As a side note we're allowed no more than 10' between meter socket and main around here before you need an extra disconect.

Some only allow 5', the OP would have been better served to have run it on the outside of the building.
