Not a huge haul, but it sure felt good to have time for the flea market on a Sunday.
Got a handful of vintage 1/4" sockets, a Walden spinner and a Bonney 1/4" breaker, an SK diamond 1/2" speeder, a plomb wf ratchet and screwdriver, and some plomb combos- one of which has cool markings that I'll ask about after it's bath.

Speedmaster ratchet
Williams s52
And a 1/4 mustang
Also a western Germany tape.

1) any idea on the age of tape measure?
2) how difficult is disassembly on speedmaster?

Went to the Twin City Roadsters swap meet this morning, the last swap of the year here in Minneapolis. It snowed like crazy, so wasn't too comfortable...I'm still trying to get warmed up. :)

I got three Diamond Calk pliers, one Bernard pliers and a small Vise-Grips, three early Hot Rod magazines, and a Nylint Michigan digger crane just like the one I had as a kid.

Macduff: I have one of those German round tape measures, but have no clue as to age.

Just when I thought there were no prospects for me this weekend, up pops one 10 minutes away. SWMBO left me at home today, so I hustled down to the sale. Here's what I found for $30.

c8df3740d6fa5735554d8d421aea8ef0.jpg

100-ft+ of 3/8 steel cable with hooks (alone, worth double what I paid)
Early Craftsman saw table blade cover and miter slide--yes, I separated them from their parent saw on the workbench, but I bought the one I own without those items, so I don't feel too bad
Goodell-Pratt 188a push dril--no bits in the handle, unfortunately
Craftsman 3/8 RHFT ratchet
Craftsman 1/2" ratchet
Hinsdale s-15 ratcheting hex drive handle, marked "Pat. Pending"
Steel Craft mini pipe wrench, marked East Germany
Black & Decker 12" drill extension
Large non-name tire pressure gauge
Snow brush because..."Winter is coming"
Large and small cement trowels
Boat roller thingie
2-step pulley for an electric motor
Two hose clamps
Set of regular size Craftsmen open-end wrenches
Set of mini Craftsman ignition DOE wrenches
Set of Dunlap mini combo wrenches
Power drum pipe clog auger
Ash bucket to haul it all home in

71df34751880f0acf900c065c248ec9a.jpg

25-ft coiled air hose kit (price tag on bag says $49.95)
Peak antifreeze
Trenching shovel
Replace shovel t-handle
Two Craftsman pipe clamps
Five pieces of 3/16" x 1" x 48" steel bar stock for future projects

The owner of the cleanout company also turned me on to his sale next weekend in Hopkinton, MA. SMBO has me scheduled to move equipment into her new office that day, so I don't know if I can make it. It looks amazing.

Small haul for me from a quick stop at the flea market after my son's baseball game...

The Williams L-handle had me scratching my head for a few seconds. The drive end is bigger than 3/8" but smaller than 1/2". It's not a drive tool. It's a special Williams wrench for turning the safety set screw at the top of a safety lathe dog.

That 1/4-inch drive Tee-handle looking almost white with a WWII phosphate finish is a Walden-Worcester 3116.

The ignition wrenches are Duro-Chrome E series. Missing three.

A couple of close up pictures of the Walden Worcester Spintite cast iron nut driver holder since several people were interested.

Only a couple saves, and a small box full of gift tools as well:

pic 1: an Audel's book on Layouts, Foundations and Framing, a 4-oz Craftsman ball peen in excellent shape, and a Kodak camera close-up attachment, No. 13, all for $3

pics 2-4: gift from a friend, was cleaning out his toolbox and gave some USA-made goodness to me. Includes a pop rivet tool, a Ridgid 14" pipe wrench, a Stanley square, large set of Channellock slip-joint pliers, some chisels of various makes, two vise-grips (one a Vise-Grip welding jaw, other a Craftsman), a LeverWrench vise-grip (I think the previous owner welded on the washer to hang the tool on a hanger or nail), a couple vintage Yankee screwdrivers, and a small hunting knife (no markings). Free tools are awesome!

Cool crisp autumn morning out with Mrs LesserSon. Coffee and donut en route, followed by sausage & egg on a kaiser roll and home fries at Jake’s. Thought I could talk the vendor down to $20 on this 1/3hp blick grinder, but he held his ground, though he let me transfer the shields and on tool rest from a 1/4hp grinder and added one replacement 6” wheel.
Loaded up on some other items, including Plomb punches, then spotted this 2004 Buck 112 Ranger! I’ve been keeping an eye open for a 110 Hunter to replace one I had lost, but when I saw this, I figured it would be even better. When the vendor said $15, I knew I would get it. I counter offered $10, and he said $12. Sold!
After, lunch with daughter in Mt Airy. The standing tables had COOL repurposed industrial pedestals!

Nice find on the Scholler.

Macduf- the Speedmaster was made by Wright if you didn’t know. I posted the Wright version here,

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7314867&postcount=76

have not taken it apart yet but pretty sure Powderkeg had pictures of the guts posted somewhere. I don’t think it’s too crazy, maybe open it in a bag like the buys recommend in case of a ball bearing or spring going lost.

Bluebolt- Spintite rack is here,

Socket finds this week:

A few Silver Eagle deeps, Mac screwdriver, Proto, Koken wobble extension, Matco flex socket, Kobalt, SK, and a bunch of Craftsman Easy Read “Wrench Sockets”. I think there are more from the set lurking in the bins at the pawn shop.

That looks a lot like the Boy Scout knife I have, check it again for 'BSA' stamped on it somewhere.

I can find no markings on it anywhere, possible the BSA has been worn off sometime, or it's a good copy of the BSA knife. I agree it's probably patterned after a Scout knife, since the handle is a little too small for an adult's.

So I went to an Estate Sale on Saturday and found the Proto Los Angeles 4" Adjustable. On Sunday we went to a Flea Market and found the Barcalo Buffalo 12" Adjustable and the Indestro 1/4" Ratchet.

Cheers

Jim

DT man and Stuart, its more likely that the BSA version was made from that model; many of the "hard" tools" for scouts were simply "BSA approved" and marked with the logos (with a cut to BSA)

What sizes are you missing? I might have them.
E63, E65, and E67, see here on the Duro-Indestro thread, Tim. I checked my orphans and I only have those sizes in 8XX series and an E68 (if I wanted to go to the 9-wrench set, which I don't! :)), so, I could use 'em if ya got 'em. Full admission, I have a full Duro E set in a pouch and another full Duro E set without a pouch. So need is not exactly the right word! But now that I have four, I need three more. You know the feeling! HAHA. I have a whole drawer full of ignition wrenches, easily over a hundred, in a dozen different brands (incl Blue-Point, Williams, Armstrong, Craftsman, and others), so let me know if you want to trade.

I think I solved a personal mystery today. I’ve had a slipjoint pliers for a while now, and wondered what the single mark on them stood for. MH or HW, joined in a circle.
Today, I find a larger pair with a very similar logo, but with McKaig-Hatch Buffalo NY explicit. Alloy Artifacts shows the second logo, but not the first.

I can confirm, LS. Definitely McKaig-Hatch. It was on just about everything they made. Here (wrench on top) is a WWII DOE wrench with the logo and a carbon steel series AISI number forged-in.

I will take a peek at what I have tonight and let you know. :)

EDIT: Checked and what I have are an 81 (7/32 × 7/32) and an 83 (1/4 × 1/4), side not quite what you're seeking.

I did dig up a Williams Superrench 9011 (7/32 × 13/64). Not sure of age, but the simple "Alloy" marking and what looks like a cad plated finish suggest WWII.

Here is some that I picked up for all of the Disstonian Institue alumni! All 5 are razor sharp. All but the center saw have the etches clear and not pitted. The two nicest ones are on the left and are Atkins.

tym: Thanks for checking you stash. And I'm flush with Williams ALLOY Superrenches, thanks.
My stash 'tis but a meager pittance compared to what you and other GJers have in your garages, basements, and secret closets. ;)

Spent way to much on this on the Bay but it's Plomb and WWII, so it's ok.
