Woo Hoo!!
I do not need any, and I will buy some if they are good quality.

I they are good quality. If they are cheap in quality, I do not see them doing well unless they are priced accordingly. I expect to pay more than Chinese prices.

I wonder where they will be available. Anyone know?!?!?!?!

Next spring start here - Where To Buy

Cut from previously supplied link

According to information published earlier this year by the University of Wisconsin-Stout's Manufacturing Outreach Center, DeWitt will be the manufacturing site for Malco's new Eagle Grip locking pliers, which will hit the market next spring.

LOCKING PLIERS TO BE PRODUCED ONCE AGAIN IN DEWITT!
BY Dave Schroeder | October 20, 2018

Today a modest production area is slowly coming online in one part of the building. The plan is to create prototypes of tools this fall and winter and launch them at a major hardware show in the Spring.

Quandt says they will produce 4 different locking pliers, 3 hand seamers(used for bending sheet metal) and a couple of welding clamps. He says they will hire production workers as the demand approaches but, many of the current employees worked in the former Vise-Grip factory.

The Eagle Grip pliers will have a similar look and feel as those familiar with Vise-Grips. They will be produced in 7″ and 10″ sizes and some with wire cutters too.

Now will this malco company be selling locking pliers to Matco? That’s going to get confusing

I read that their plan is to make the best licking plier available. Won’t be cheap, but I’d be happy to upgrade my stuff.

Here's hoping they get product to market in a timely fashion, and it's better than the Newell- Rubbermaid Irwin US stuff.

There had been a posting quit a while ago on here about Malco moving in to the old factory before but they never said they would be adding locking pliers to the products. They article just said tools would be made as an expatiation of their business required more floor space. This is fantastic news as far as I'm concerned as I have never bought china vise grips and never will. I don't care if I need any more when they come out I'll buy a few to let a company that is investing in America they made a good decision.

It's folks that buy American made products that can take the credit for these companies bringing it back here. I never supported the Chinese stuff and never will.

Great news. It does make me wonder if there's some sort of licensing agreement required with Irwin - the Malco pliers look an awful lot like Vise-Grips.

Malco makes some of the best snips I have ever used so,
I would like to believe these will be just as good.

Time will tell
If they are I need a bunch more welding clamps... :lol_hitti

Any way to preorder? I love the idea of supporting new US manufacturing, including new startups

I agree, the members of this forum will probably drop north of 100 grand on them alone. Hard to tell but someone must know the demand is there.

This is wonderful news.

I was ready to place a PO for a couple dozen sets of the swivel pad C clamp style for my shop from strong hand. Now I think I'll wait until I can buy Malco.

I will happily support this endeavor.

i recall hauling a load of Vise Grips out of the DeWitt factory. Got the nickel tour while getting loaded. The culls coming off at the packaging line looked fine to me, not so to the inspector:) Good to see they opening up again.

Very cool. Malco makes good quality tools for HVAC and sheetmetal trades so I suspect the new "Eagle Grips" will be high quality as well. I will certainly back their play to make quality tools in the USA by making them my preferred brand for locking pliers of all types.

Now for the really hard part: Learning to NOT call them Vise Grips.....

And they’ll have the actual release levers on them!
My current (Chinese) vise grips have the stupid lever-less release that is almost impossible to release if you have the pliers really cranked down

Great information. I emailed Channellock earlier this year and asked them if they had any intentions of selling any rebranded Grip-On locking pliers or making any in the future like they have in the past. They responded and said they are developing made in USA locking pliers that should be available in 2019

You could always call them Mole grips as they are known here in the UK.

I'm really starting to enjoy this forum more as I read the thread titles these days. Made in USA, baby.

I'm also proud to say I've haven't bought a new Irwin product since the move from NE.

I will be in line to pick up some newly Nebraska minted Malcos.

That patent has to be long dead. I also don't think this is a good thing. They couldn't even be bothered to improve the ergonomics or at the very least fix the release handle? Very disappointing. I'll stick with my Euro ones.
