Steel wool them, paint them, and use them!!!
This is actually a plug for bluebolt! He cut me a good deal on some used snapon through the classifieds section. They came in today and were actually better than I expected! Some chrome loss and a little rust per his descriptions, but nothing too bad. Upon arrival, I promptly began prepping the extensions for my work box. My intentions in painting, in case anybody is wondering why I would do that, are two fold. 1. Help protect/ seal against rust. 2. Help prevent walkoffs. My current work situation can be hectic and people just grab what they think is theirs in the moment, sometimes not realizing they grabbed the wrong stuff til days later! I’ve figured out painting definitely helps and is easily reversed if ever desired. Anyways, enjoy the pic and take a look at bluebolt’s post to see if there is anything you could use!!!

Good idea - it would hard to miss them and easy to spot in someone else's box or hands.

I don't think i would paint the square drive area too include where the detent ball is. Any fitment issues inserting the painted square drive into a socket?
they look nice though and are easy to spot from a distance

Is it a baked on, powder coat type finish (hope so....)? If regular paint it will flake off, possible into items were paint isn't wanted.....so just be aware....

Fedwrench and bob15 raise good points. Yes it does wear off eventually. I do add a few layers of clear coat to help keep it on longer. I probably should have taped off the drive end, but figured it’d wear off pretty quickly. I just checked - no fitment issues. I’ll try to post a picture of one I’ve been using for a while. I currently work in a lube bay, So they are only being used to remove air filters, batteries, drain plugs etc. I will definitely keep this in mind as I move into more critical repairs!!!

FWIW suggestion, just go with HF for work and keep any Snap-on, et al, at home until you move up to a situation where they don't walk off; you'll relax more.

All my work tools are older junk. Nobody steals it either. They work just fine.

I keep the bling for my son.
