I continue to just look and grin at your builds as they are so far from my skill set, or lack of skills, but the Resto stuff on the tools etc I can kind of relate to, and always enjoy.

Very soon I hope to build a replica of your small mobile workbench.......

Time for an update....
I sold the Blue Buick Skylark seen earlier in this thread, sold it for $3,000. I bought this '99 Chevy Tahoe for $2,300 and then spent about $700 for some DMV back fees and a few repairs so I came out even. It has 112,000 miles on it and runs perfect so I'm pretty happy to have a tow wagon when I take my Willys to the drags and a perfect swap meet vehicle, plenty of room for parts and comfortable for sleeping in.

Took the Willys to the San Diego Antique Drags at Barona and also the Antique Nationals at Fontana. Made for a couple of good photo ops.....

I got a nice freebie from a friend who aquired these anvils and bench mount from the estate of a deceased neighbor. He had no use for them so he gave them to me.

I restored a couple of vises. I forgot to take before picture but the 4" Wilton bullet vise was almost beyond repair. It was completely welded to a steel bench and the top had been ground and cut up so bad I had to build it all back up with weld. There was a chunk missing below the jaws. I had to cut the jaws off with a cut off wheel/ I made some new aluminum jaws so it can be my vise for delicate stuff. I also had to make a new lock plate for the rotating mechanism. I always wanted a Wilton bullet vise so it was worth all the work.

When I got this big Yost vise it was seized with rust and about 1/8" of paint. I had to burn all the paint off and drop it about 10 times just to make it move about 1/4". Eventually I got it to work and gave it a coat of hammertone blue. It is missing the rotating base. It was a fun project but I don't really need it, jaws are like brand new. I may sell it one day.

If you hadn't told us all that was wrong with that Wilton we'd never know it from these photos. It looks pretty kickass nice.

You realize of course that you could probably sell that for maybe $400? That'll buy a lot of Rustoleum! Ha ha ha.

Back in post 106 I showed my fence and said it will probably look different in 5 years. Well it has been 6 years and here is how it looks now.

Haven't been on here for a while so thought I would do an update.

I don't really have a workbench to work off so I renovated my rolling table. Added some drawers and a vise and gave it a paint job. I usually work outside so I take it where I'm working and plug it in.

Got some good freebies from a friend, his wife is making him get rid of extra "stuff". He dropped off a stainless steel table, fold up cherry picker, 4 car dollies and an old Craftsman belt sander.

I aquired another speed shop sign in a trade, swapped a nice porcelain GULF sign for it.

I plan to one day organize the back half of my garage into a make believe speed shop so I always keep an eye out for any display items, I picked up this Valvoline racing oil rack at the CHRR swap meet.

Man, what I'd do for one of those grinder set-ups! Lucky dog. And, that Yost is a handsome vise, one of my favorites.

You lucked out there Kev (but we do make our own luck too) the dollies are great and that Linisher/sander is an awesome bit of kit. And your other update items all get the go ahead.

I love the little Ford tractor in the background as well.

Do you have a collection of vintage toys at all??

Man, I just LOVE Kev's garage and shop.

The layout of my backyard and detached garage/shop is very like his in mirror image. If I had maybe $50,000 or more! I could duplicate (just some) of his cool *** signs. I'd never be able to match all the rest.

It's probably THE definitive ordinary car guy (meaning someone who doesn't have Jay Leno's assets) garage ever.
