if you are going to delete a thread, could you at least have enough respect to take the 10 seconds to PM the person and tell them why.

It's not a lack of respect, I think- it's that you're playing in someone else's sandbox, and you have to play by their rules.

Did you take the 10 seconds to send a PM to a Mod?

I don't know what thread you are referring to. I didn't kill any today.

But aside from that, trying to read all the threads on here just for enjoyment is quite time consuming. Add to it the various hidden things mods do to try and enforce the admin's rules and keep things running smooth and you've got a big chunk of our time being spent here as volunteers, which is on top of our actual real-life commitments. Honestly, I do not have 10 seconds or the inclination to PM every person whose thread I might delete. And, the reasons for deletion are few. Primarily, politics, religion, or a shitstorm of insults and bad behavior are the reasons why most deleted threads are deleted. So, there should be little doubt about why one disappeared.

But again, I don't know what thread you are talking about, so this is all general.

basically i posted a thread asking if anyone local could help me out, either by doing it themselves or by recommending a shop that could finish some TIG welding on a project i am working on. The last time i checked the thread last night there was a single reply, and i had gotten one PM w/ a recommendation. I have no clue what rule this would have broken, nor will i probably ever since i got no notice or anything as to why it was deleted.

Bull no offense here, but if mods are THAT busy, maybe they shouldn't be mods. I mean i have managed a forum before, and i know how annoying things can be to keep up with. If a new person joins and spams the board w/ 100 ****** links i get it, posts are deleted person is banned. However if the people that are a normal part of the community post something that for some reason brakes the rules, then i would think it only courteous to take a few seconds and let them know why it was deleted. If nothing else it would only makes sense to let them know what they did wrong so they don't do it again. Maybe i just expect too much?

I have no problem playing by the rules, and thought i was ... as far as PMing a mod .. i would have had i known who was responsible!

i had to work today. i guess i missed something good?

Sadly it wasn't anything "good" unless someone else posted something exciting that i missed overnight.

You mean THIS thread?

The one that hasn't been deleted, the ones that's right there where it always was, and the one that you probably owe the moderators an apology for?

Well, I guess the "mystery" has been solved.

But aside from that, you are entitled to your opinion about what you are "owed" by the volunteers here.

I'd never assume a mod was going to message me to tell me they were doing their job but hey, I'm nuts like that.

Good point  but I have to ask did what ever you post correspond to the rules of the forum and if not then expect what ever you posted to be deleted. After all the rules here must be respected as we are just guests.

Guys,
If you post in Free Parking and don't automatically subscribe to the thread, you're not gonna find it since the Free Parking items do not come up when searching.

No appology needed.

But we're all gonna laugh at you for a bit. :lol_hitti

well i did search for it including searching for all posts started by myself from my stats page. I've never been on a site that i couldn't find a thread i posted in or started by searching under my own stats, so i guess i learned something new about the site. If it was there the whole time then i guess Micky's second post would pretty much explain everything else. lol Feel free to laugh at away at my expense.

Don't feel bad.

Just think of this place like Animal House and this thread is a little bit of hazing.....

I agree though, it's strange that search is not enabled in Free Parking.....

I always PM a mod before making public accusations. Doing so will normally prevent public embarrassment.

I live on another forum for our New Orleans Saints. I have no idea how those poor mods keep up with the daily workload. They do a wonderful job but I must commend the mods on this forum.

I do not post here often but I do drop by very often. I have never ever come across a problem thread. Hats off to you mods and to the classy people on this site.
