Ideally the sw would be mounted so the chain hangs straight down, not to the side.

If you got the Sw shown in the photo, yes, it does lead out over a large chamfer, so either orientation will be OK, but vertical still smoothest operation.

All depends on size and shape of the little j box you will be mounting in.

But ya, of course you know to keep all wiring within the j box.

Step bit of course best way to make that size hole in sheet metal.

Orange wire nuts.

Lead the tip of the stranded like 1/16" ahead of the solid into the wire nut, then Pull on the stranded to check after you put nuts on.

Ideally, be in ball chain as you lead out through a new accurately placed drilled hole in the plastic vent cover, then change to string.

I have a good Attorney on retainer, so I can say this.

dude - seems like your wound a little tight....

It looks like you used to be a contractor. Perhaps you're used to 'scaring' your customers to jack up the bid but it seems to me your getting a little carried away

First of all, stop with the insults just because people don't agree with you

Secondly, if you do have a valid reason why someone should not install a switch like we have been talking about, by all means, go for it. Tell us why. But just don't use the old 'your house will burn down' unless you do it my way because I use to be an expert.....

get real. you basically derailed this entire thread with your first post about 'lawyers'
1st,I didnt start with the insults.
I just returned the favor.
I didnt used to be an expert,I still hold a state of Nebraska electrical contractors/master license.
I still deal with inspectors on a fairly regular basis, even if I'm not working every day at it.
Dont take my word for it,call your local electrical inspector if you dont think I'm right and see what he has to say about it.
Problem solved.

Rebuild the old fan. The parts available for most of the main brands. I just did htis in 2 fans for a rental. Turned out to be really cheap.

Did you happen to install a pull chain in the units or switch them another way other than a second wall switch or a double rocker switch? . That’s what I’m after nothing else. Please no more suggestions on fixing the fan etc, that’s NOT my concern.

Pound sand you freaking hack, you can keep the California 3 way.
When your house trailer burns down make sure to tell them it doesn't matter,it was only temporary.
Some of us are actual licensed contractors who have a clue of how stuff is supposed to be done.:wtf:

Dude! Get off your ******* insulting high horse. And while your at it you can shove your condescending license up your *** too.

And I'll put my work up against anybody's anytime, any day. There are just as many licensed pricks that have no business holding a pencil let alone tools.

Sure there's plenty of licensed hacks in every trade, and when they post ideas that aren't up to accepted standards feel free to tell them to shove their ideas up their asses also.
If you see a hack licensed or unlicensed on a job feel free to call your local inspector for what ever trade they're working in and turn them in.
Differance being the licensed hack will actually have something to lose for doing bs work..
