Ebay? Do you use it?

Depends upon what it is, if its a common item I always look what others are selling theirs for to ensure a competitive bid. If I feel that there is too much competition I wait for their listing to expire prior to me listing.
This gives you a better edge for selling. If the item is unique and in high demand, research what the going rate is in the open market.
No matter what, use the 2-5 pictures they allow you to use make them very high quality and be very specific in your listing as to the condition and your shipping rates.
Lastly, please don't limit your sale to USA . . . There is no reason what so ever to limit a well respected buyer willing to pay for reasonable S&H along with the final winning bid.
It's 2010, and there is such a thing as air planes, truck, trains, and boat that deliver. As you can tell it's a pet peeve of mine, as we do direct trade with the USA, and have the most export / imports then any other nation on the planet.

I use it for weird parts I need - like I jsut got some cylenders off of it - but rarly do I look for tools - I stick to craiglist for used tools. As for selling - I don't!

I buy and sell a significant amount of random tools and electronics on ebay. It works great for buying, but the recent seller restrictions has made me think twice about selling.

That is an interesting thought - sell tools............Nope. I will just need to educate my daughter better, so she doesn't get ripped off very badly when she has to sell my stash.

yup,,,,buy and sell stuff,,,not alot,,,,but no issues.
Have bought small and big items,,,tools,,,guitars,,,,car parts (bumpers, trim, misc),,,,usually no issues except the occasional hiccup,,,(usually with a buyer that flakes out)
Pretty easy way to "clean out" the garage and make some spare $$
Shipping is something to watch,,,both from a buyer and seller perspective,,,,some people really jack you on the shipping costs (almost a way for them to make up $ on the selling price of the item),,,,,
if your selling stuff,,,have a rough idea on shipping, costs,,etc,,,so you dont get burnt or stick it to someone.
my buddy buys alot of tools off of craigslist,,,,usually local,,,easy to pick up,,,no shipping costs,,,and most people end up throwing in more tools,,,,"just to get them out of the garage",,,, he has made a killing collecting snap on stuff....... quite a collection.

Sold 3 cars and bought 5 all on ebay. Got messed about on the sale of one car but otherwise no problem.
I buy & sell on E-Bay often (400+ transactions) I do not bid on Items outside the US and will never ship outside the US again (did once) it's not worth the hassle. There enough buyers and sellers in the US. JMHO

I both buy and sell on Ebay. They have a new promotion that allows you to sell your first five items each month with no insertion fees. This is a great deal for small volume sellers. I have received more money than I expected on almost all of my auctions and I don't mind the fees. Ebay has a huge user base and is still a good value. As far as buying, I still buy way too many items that I may not need. There are so many cool items available I really have to control my spending.

Used to use ebay a lot to buy and sell but have switched over to craigslist. If it doesn't sell then I take it to goodwill. Most of my tools have been new and then I have kept them all.
the last few times i tried to buy anything on ebay ive noticed that the bid will change like 3 or 4 times in the last 5 sec. i guess people are useing software to get the bid in like that. Been outbid the last three auctions and said screw it. CL or the classifieds on here.

Craiglist is a joke if you want 100 junk emails keep on using craigslist. I have bought and sold close to 600 item and only had a few problems witch was very minor. If you want to sell a item for top dollar ebay is the way to go to get the most. Here's a example of the last item I sold and got top dollar for, It was a buick gs air cleaner I restored and had alot of attention as it sold fast.

I used to use it quite a bit about 10 years ago, but it was free or very cheap back then (like 0.05 to sell something) Over the years they have made it expensive.
Once you add teh ebay fees and Paypal fees on some stuff I'd be better off to just throw it out.

I sure do agree about the fees. I use Ebay once in a while, just wonder if anyone had problems selling tools and stuff. My boyfriend and I are just starting out selling tools on there. We have been doing pretty good and breaking even!

I sell at lot on Ebay. I sell all kinds of car logo air fresheners. Unique designs you guys will like.Ebay has changed a lot in the past year with their new defalt search engine. It killed my Ebay business. I went from selling 500 + air fresheners per week to 200 if I am lucky. It is still worth it, I also make custom air fresheners so Ebay is a great lead source. It is like fishing.
Sellers have no recourse for anything. As a seller I cannot even leave negative feedback.
Ebay is still the best avenue for global selling ! I have sold air fresheners in every country except Antarctica thanks to Ebay!

I just got burned bad on Ebay/Paypal this week! I am in the process of cancelling both accounts and I may even have to close my bank account. I never realized how much risk is involved with selling on there. I have sold and bought more through craigslist and old fashioned classifieds and never a problem or a fee to use craigslist.
Be very aware with Ebay/Paypal if you sell something they (paypal) can take your money back! All the buyer has to do is say the item was not as described and do a chargeback with his credit card. Paypal will not help sellers in this situation they wash their hands of the whole thing. In the end they expect you the seller to pay the money back to them for the chargeback as well as a chargeback fee! I never in a thousand years thought this could happen. Sure enough it is all in their terms of service. Like I said no online auctions or pay services for me anymore, not worth the huge risk and stress. Am I bitter, no not at all, not me I am just ready to go chop a cord of wood
