Lawn Mower transforms into a Snow Blower Video

I know we all like cool tools and as I love my Snap On and Facom to maintain all my power equipment but the lawn season here in Mass is coming to an end. This machine is very unique with versatility to handle snow.

This machine fits my needs very well. I thought you might enjoy seeing how I turn this lawn mower into my snow blower for the winter months.

My impact wrench is a Bluepoint and i am using an older (but favorite) Facom ratchet as well. The Mower is a USA made machine also.

I spent a lot of time working on Walker mowers 20 years ago. Replaced a number of engines, a couple wheel motors, a few blade gearboxes, numerous tires and did a lot of PMs. Even drove one for a summer in college.

They're neat machines, and their cut is excellent. But they aren't without their quirks. I'm interested to know how it works out for you as a snow thrower, especially traction, directional stability, and maneuverability with all that distance behind the pivot point.

Very nice. I like the versatility. I was surprised the chute is so dumbed down. I mean, I like the simplicity of it, but I figured with such a robust machine, it would have power rotate and some kind of arch control that didn't require you to get off the machine.

Sounds like some nice future modifications.

That's really a neat system, but I'll just keep dropping the cutting deck and installing the plow blade on our Groundsmasters. It takes about 20 minutes if you're a complete spaz. No one I know is going to want to go through all that at the last minute the morning after an unexpected 6" of snow in late October. We use the mowers right up till first snow for leaf mulching. That probably works great, but it's just too time consuming of a swap for what we need.

Straight chains on those tires don't work well. The chains work themselves in between the lugs and make traction worse. You would need V-chains so they sit on top of the tire lugs and not get between them.

Thaat makes sense, too much space between the treads. I am thinking they should really be ok. I never even had chains on my turf tires on a tractor before and I have a large hill so hopefully these crazy tread pattern will be enough.

If you ever missed greased fittings you won't be lonely with the Walker. It has about 30 of them, so there is always grease all over things when working on it, so I wear them a lot and with this conversion I try to keep it off me whenever possible.

I guess eventually all lawnmower manufacturers will come up with a snowblower attachments or already have. These machines in video are somewhat expensive even to find used. But most used are beat up. His looks well kept. I like the Simplicity tractor with snowblower attachment. A lot less expensive. Just get the Cab.

Walkers are true commercial machines. Built like tanks, last a LONG time, even being used 30-40 hours a week. Their lawn cut is probably the best in the business on the 2 blade decks. Properly operated, they don't damage lawns, are very maneuverable and hold a lot of grass/leaves in the catcher on the back. They have had attachments like this snowthrower available for decades.

Price one new and you'll see why used is so expensive.
