1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

I was wondering whether that bezel was original or a repop. Whoever did the chrome job on that did nice work! What about your dash pad, is that OE or a repop?

It’s a NOS Dash Pad. Found it nearly 19 yrs ago. I have a Mint Original for Eco2 any after will have to get the repop.

OK, sorry, just didn't realize it was multiple vehicles. I kind of miss this link for a while and then catch up but it was just too much to catch up with this last time, lol.

Not a problem! I can’t keep track of them myself! If someone asks how many I need to put in the thinking cap and start counting fingers. Last number was about 6. Only 2 now together so it’s quite the puzzle.

Quickie update ‘66 427 Truck.

As of a bit ago all lights now working! Gear Vendors all hooked up wired. Initial check shows it should be good to go.

2 more wires on Tachometer & it’s done.
Then all inside wiring will be complete.

Then it’s on to polish door panel trim and install.

Pass side door lock gotta find that last clip.

Then installing the black door pockets and chrome trim for now. Will see how it looks. May change pocket color to Parchment or install the body color access panels.

Interior still needs gas tank carpet & brackets but ok for Cars n Coffee!

Truck is ready now for that extended test drive! Yippee!

Update: Uncle Mel stopped by & we decided to go on a slight extended test drive loop of around 24-25 miles. We stopped for fuel first then to In n Out for a bite to eat. Spot right up front. After eating Mel twisted my arm suggesting we take 303 Freeway for a bit. So, now it’s got 55 miles on it! Things could not have gone better. Mel kept eye on handheld while I watched all other gauges. High temp was 174 degrees. Usually in the 160’s
Took a cloverleaf on-ramp at speed and it was fantastic! On way home pulling from stoplight a brand new dodge with temp sticker thought he could race. He did his best. Wish I could have told him “ hey buddy, that was 10% throttle you need a bigger hemi”

Bought some PPG interior paint in Parchment for door pockets and armrests. Hoping to paint them this evening. Just started to sand & polish tensing interior exterior trim.

Still working on truck but going to call it a night. More progress but not where I want it to be. Going anyway! It’ll be dirty, not done. Never had time for sand n buff but I need a break!

Where it was at when I pulled it into main shop earlier today.



I just rinsed wheels off as my driveway is a dust pile. Rain last night so should be no dust in morning.

Have not gotten into throttle much yet as just hit 100 miles but the torque band seems very very flat right off idle on up. No doubt more TQ than HP.

8.7 mpg first tank. If I drive to gas station for fuel about the time I get home low on fuel!

Thanks! Going to take a bit of getting used to it but so far so good.

Now to get serious about final details. Sand n Buff first then pick a little at a time until complete.

Torque converter a bit slippery for my taste but obvious making a bunch more torque than what was estimated. Surely not going to remove, send back & re-install. Killin’ the mpg but it’s always in the sweet spot for power. Limited so far up to around 3800 rpm.

It looks a little off-white but not sure. I'd like to redo the red on my '79 to an antique or off white, just not bright white. Had to smile about the Dodge.

Color is stock 1966 Color paint code M.
Wimbledon White. It is a creamy white but looks great with bright colors.

All taken with my 2 yr old cell phone. One of these days will have a better camera.

The truck looks great.

As far as the camera goes, don't dismiss more recent cell phone cameras for things like built-in HDR processing.

The sunset images in particular would be (nearly) impossible with a regular camera within a single exposure.

Good lighting single exposure, yeah, a good camera will blow away a cell phone camera. Cell phone camera images also tend to fall apart as it is enlarged, much more quickly than a good DSLR image taken with a good lens.

374.5 trouble free miles so I retired it for now. Going to show this morning and a idiot in a Nissan passes me in a gore point doing 90+ mph. Kicked up rocks and chipped my NOS windshield. Done for now. Time to move on to next project. Eco2
That’s until supplies run out.
No $ for more supplies so will see how far I can get.

Also made another trip to Scottsdale Pavilions with a much bigger crowd.
