Snowblower throttle lever help.

Hi I recently picked this snowblower up. I think the previous own let it sit in snow and/or with salt all over it an a lot of it was rusted. I took most of the rusted pieces off and soaked them in evaporust and painted them. The only issue I have is the throttle control lever seems to keep getting loosened when I slide it to fast, it springs back towards slow. Will replacing just the spring washer and nut holding down the lever onto the throttle control bracket help? I see part 951-11311 on the parts diagram but don’t see the lever that’s bolts to the top of it. Thanks for any help.

Looks like there’s no tension on the throttle lever. Can you tighten it? Or add a tension washer or something like that?

My HF Predator engine has a spring-loaded washer and nut to keep the throttle lever in place. The nut was surprisingly tight. I got a manual choke cable and converted it so the throttle control is up near the key switch. Much more user-friendly.

I can't help with the throttle but please tell us about the "drying cabinet" you show in the picture above!

I use a toaster oven for small stuff but something a little bigger would be handy on occasion.

here is a picture off a similar engine. you can see the lock nut and the spring washer under it. that provides the drag for the throttle arm.
- this is not the same engine as the OP-

a couple of nylon washers between the lever & plate ,and snug up the bolt so it has just the right drag

Thanks all for the help. I just tightened it more and I think it is fine now. I think I was just afraid to over tighten and strip it at first.

I also stopped by my father’s place and he has a smaller version of my snowblower and snapped a picture of the lever as well.



The paint oven is an electric smoker I bought at tractor supply. I got it for under $80 on sale. It’s one of the best investments I’ve made for the garage. I paint a lot of old tools and bench vises and this thing helps cure that paint much quicker. And now I can also paint in the winter.
