I have done a few hours research and came up with nothing. From what I have been told this was my grandfathers, but cannot confirm how old it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Awesome! I will have to dig around and see if I can find a similar example to mine. Many thanks!!

Nice. Shot of the whole head?

I am reluctant to show a shot of the whole head, and I have been forced to do a lot of grinding and shaping of the cutting edge due to previous abuse (I think someone tried to break up a concrete floor with it ). Such grinding might be considered blasphemy and I might be cast out of GJ for what I have done!! haha

lets see it, its urs and anyone not liking it can always go pound sand....imho.

At work now..maybe I swing home at lunch and snap some pics for GJ. I am sure my wife would enjoy a pic or two of the long wooden shaft I just affixed to the head too!

Just blame the damage on the previous guy...

Works for my ex ol ladies...

Finish your repairs with a file. Then a stone. Takes out the grinding marks. And in the future, stick with files. Grinders like to draw tempers... like ex ol ladies.

Already did blame it on someone else, as an engineer its' second nature. :bounce:

I got it really close with a grinder, then touched it up with some flapper discs I got from the Benchmark Abrasives thread. Final shape with a mil ******* then finished it up with a stone....just like you suggested.

Found a decent handle at Fleet Farm (grain was actually running the correct direction), lightly burnt the grain with a torch and lathered in BLO.
