Upgrading my workbench using the HF 44x22 Series II cabinets. I went with the 44" rollers since the 40" table height will be a little bit more in line with what I like than the larger cabinets. I used the $449 coupon that is valid in the current Dec 2018 catalog. I paid $1300 for everything...CHEAP!. It is all completely bolted together and still able to roll as one 115" long unit. I have a one piece steel counter top in process. As soon as that is complete I will upload some photos. The quality is amazing for the price. I had to hit three different stores yesterday to find everything in blue.

Here are the before and after photos...

yeh it a lot of box for the sale prices .
Good range of addons makes it very adaptable .
Fits that space nicely, shame they made the hangon drawers and locker width less on series 2 .

Here are some photos of the bottom of the cabinet in case someone is considering building a leveling pedestal or something like that.

Looks great OP. If you have gotten them within the past 30 days you should go today and get them priced adjusted to the current $399 sale price that ends today. Could get you a good amount back.

Ok, got back from wife mandated vacation in Mexico. Here are some photos of how things are progressing.98d188884e7b9f748852ce3196c9fc3f.jpg

This has a 1 1/2” from lip and a 4” backsplash. 3/16” steel. It’s sitting on 3/4” particle board.

I have another wall that may get an upgrade first probably in red this time.55b2e125516a3f3dffa7dfe4d5b5813d.jpg

This one is a cluster **** of tool boxes. I am liking the table height of the 44” rollers so far.

More info on the steal counter top please.
Where did you get it?
How much?
How did you attach it?

Thanks

I had my local metal place cut and bend it. I think a 4x8 sheet of 3/16 is about $220 from my local guys. They did the material, cutting and bending all for $200. I plan on screwing it to the wall but it’s heavy enough that it doesn’t really need to be. If you want a simple steel countertop most any metal shop can just shear it to size pretty quickly.

That is an outstanding set-up with the steel added. Great Job!!

Good color choice too.

I might have missed it but, why did you opt to leave the wheels on instead of procuring some type of adjustable foot? Just curious. thanks,

I was going to do feet but it’s so big and heavy it just doesn’t need it at this point. I screwed the top to the wall though which makes it feel pretty solid.

Painted the table top today. I like rustoleum, the only down side is waiting 2 months for it to really harden up. I use this Valspar hardener and it gets really hard in about 4-5 days. I just roll it on and it lays flat. Can also go and re-roll it after a year depending on how beat up it gets. I throw down rubber mats or a sheet of UHMW or even plywood depending on what I’m doing at the time. The lighter countertop colors really brighten the work area up as well. Raw steel tends to camouflage little screws and parts.

Are you guys ready to get into a shop air line debate? Just joking....

It’s just Pex with crimp connectors. Each drop has a little 1’x1’ plywood square. I think the main line upstairs is 1”. Been running for 10 years now at 160psi no leaks what so ever but you need good quality quick connects. I have about 10 drops total.

Turbo442, looks great! I really like the way you did the top. I bought the same twin 44s with the 14.5 during the Black Friday sale. I had a hard time choosing between the blue and the black. How did you secure/adhere the steel to the particle board on top of the box (or didn't you)?

Cool! Looks like we think alike. The black looks great! Behind my workbenches I generally have plywood on my walls on top of the Sheetrock. It gives more flexibility for mounting stuff. I just screwed the 3/16” steel backsplash to the plywood on the wall. That way I don’t have to try and hit a stud. 4eccb8a527aea2dab4b435e73a6ba04e.jpg

Any reason why you didn't weld up the top

Yeah I wanted to keep the flexibility of being able to reconfigure the bench if needed. That’s also why I left the wheels on. It’s such a pain to move with out the wheels. I put the split in line with one of the 44” roller tops. They are actually 42” wide with a 2” optional handle. The 44” roller with the little side cabinet mounted actually comes out to 56” without any handles mounted.

Also, the workbench top would have been 2” short using an 8’ sheet of 3/16” plate. And this particular shop could not bend a full 8’ length of 3/16” at onetime. But yeah some of my other work benches I just tack weld the joints.

As far as adding a vise, I’m not using one on this bench but I have some 3/4” 18”x30” plate I bolt one down to. That’s what I did here. I can still move it to other benches if needed. It can be clamped, screwed to the wall with lugs, bolted to the workbench...tack welded. Or just left loose. Sandwich it between the work bench with a rubber pad... lots of options...it’s pretty heavy. With that 3/4 particle board, 3/16” steel countertop and 3/4” plate steel you could really wail on it and not bother the tool boxes5b0c335b0a619445ce8076da67a70a91.jpg.

I will measure it when I get home. The lowers are on sale today for $429 with a coupon. The first week in March the lowers will go on sale again for $399.

Thats a pretty sweet setup! I'd like to see how it looks in Red.

I'm also curious how these boxes hold up compared to Snap-on. I can't even imagine what that setup would cost if it had some Snap-on logos on the front. I'm hearing some pretty decent things about these US General boxes.

Thanks for talking me out of the red for workbench #2. The red ones would match the red Schaller boxes better.

I was feeling really good about my set up until I stumbled on this post[emoji3525]

Looks good to me! I have some of those rollers. What are those blue bins in the pulled out drawer?

NOW YOUR PART OF THE BLUE MAN GROUP!

Looks like roughly 2k into the us generals alone. I don’t think for price to quality ratio anything can come close . Great looking set up.

Chrisnazzy not to change the subject, but I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements trying to figure out how to do the color change on objects. Could you offer any advice ?

158” end to end. If you remove one of the rollers subtract 42”. (Don’t subtract 44” that includes the handle)
