Feeding 14/2 at through dry wall?

I want to install lights in 3 small clothing closets under easy attic access. Just wondering if I can feed the 14/2 nm-b through a small hole in ceiling from a light fixture suitable for making the connection — fixture covers hole. I have seen that done with fluorescent fixtures but have wondered if meets codes.

Just trying to do this the quickest way and hope to avoid installing ceiling junction boxes. Is there a pull chain type LED fixture that can do this?

Perhaps there are 2’ LED tube fixtures available that will accomplish this. If not I may just bite the bullet and install ceiling canisters that you install from below through a 5” hole and snap in place. Than I would need to run a wire down a wall for a wall switch. That approach involves a lot of messing around in 20” of insulation whereas:

If I could feed wire from below up through the insulation it is an easy pull to a existing wall mounted junction box in the attic. Wouldn’t need knee pads and face mask for that.

All ideas appreciated including things I need to avoid. Also I am thinking low budget but not trashy.

Been researching, don’t have any nearby stores to browse, and I think I know all I need to know about a proper wiring job, but I am still wondering if the florescent fixtures I have seen with the wire feeding through the ceiling drywall directly into and terminated in the fixture is to code.

The fluorescent fixtures have the wire connections contained within the fixture and are therefore considered a junction box. If your light fixtures are built similarly (ie. connection is made within the fixture and enclosed) then it should be fine to consider those as junction boxes as well.

Cheered to you also. I was thinking that but not enough to follow through on it without confirmation(partner in crime) Thanks. Now to shop for led tube fixtures with similar junction capability or a good deal on some fluorescents.
