First off, sorry I didn’t post shipped/received. We got really busy the end of this year and I haven’t been able to lurk on GJ much. At least I remembered to get my gift sent off!

BlueBomber got me a great assortment of handy stuff!

- a welding apron (well needed mine is about 15lbs it’s so full of mill oil)
- adjustable “any angle” welding magnet (a magnet I don’t actually have!) which will come in handy
- some welding pencils (can’t ever have enough!)
- a steel thickness gauge
- a really cool vintage tape measure
- an assortment of vintage 9/16 wrenches of varying brands (can’t ever have enough imo!)

Oh and by the way, they are were all indivially wrapped nicely. My wife thought I bought and wrapped myself some presents!

Man, I cleaned up. Rated ///M hooked this Santa up.

My care package consisted of some safety items for the garage. I got 9 pairs of 3 different types of gloves, 2 pair of tinted safety glasses, a 6' Milwaukee keychain tape that I'm sure the wife will take, a pair of Milwaukee Inkzall markers, a couple of Markall poducts, one is a 300*F heat stik and the other is a silver streak welder's pencil (it says its better than soap stone), a 6" level, a led, 3 AA flashlight that's good to 3 meters underwater (might go in my scouting backpack), a set of 6 keyed alike American Lock padlocks and the piece de resistance, a Gerber multitool. It appears used, that's fine, it'll go in my backpack as well, I don't have one and have needed/had to borrow one in the past.

Wow, my Secret Santa sent me some cool stuff.

I received some Matco stickers, a NAPA hat, a Harry Epstein t-shirt, an Irwin Quick-Grip clamp, gloves with grippy rubber on the palms, and a Mac 1/4" drive indexing ratchet.

The stickers will look great on my shop cabinets. I'll post pics after I put them on the cabinets. The NAPA hat goes perfectly with the Epstein shirt. I put them on as soon as I emptied the contents of the box. A man can never have too many clamps. The gloves fit well and I had just about worn out my current pair of gloves. The ratchet is a great addition to my 1/4" drive ratchet collection.

A really big thanks and a Merry Christmas to my Secret Santa Imstuner!

He got me a really nice and crazy bright rechargeable flashlight. It's a perfect size to become an everyday carry item at work because my Streamlight definitely is not.

He also sent me a WIHA Ultra Driver 26 in 1 screwdriver. This is my first WIHA tool and in true Garage Journal fashion, he has turned me onto a brand that I've read so much about but never owned. The ingenuity of the spring loaded bit holder in the handle is freakin cool to say the least!

Thank you very much for a very nice GJ Secret Santa gift this year and also much thanks to those who organize this each year. Can hardly wait until GJSS 2019!

Metropolis gourmet popcorn, it is in Ohio. $35 orders shop free and it was like $6 for a 1/3 gallon bag, $12 for a full gallon bag. I know I am going to regret this, I can see lots of popcorn in my future.

My SS did a really deep dive and did amazing. I think I've only talked about my love of fishing in 1 or 2 threads on this board but if I had my way I'd be fishing every minute I wasn't working. I've always wanted to play around with casting sinkers too. This gift WILL get used. Thanks!

And the plane is right up my alley too. I hinted at unique gifts and this fits the bill. Although I do have to question his taste in beer it is probably the best one to cut up and make planes out of.

No idea who he is on the forum. Hope he had a great Christmas too!

'Steve' my SS hit it out of the park...Probably had his NSA guys rifle my box to see what was missing.

In this unimposing box, I found a Mossberg ell handle.
A stout Eureka branded putty scraper with steel pins.
There is a mysterious thing, with a schraeder valve free rotating on one end of a chain with a handle or retainer at the other end. You could use it to pull valve stems into place, but I don't think that's it.
A G marked Duro moon wrench, I have some friends to reunite it with.
In the mummy wrap , pickled in military sauce in 1954 at Topeka AF depot, A Duro sourced female ratchet for Dill lok-skru fasteners. I'm hesitant to open it.
And last a Bonney V-22 41-h-1509 1/4" spin handle with a very dusty mil spec envelope.
I have a bunch of GMTK related stuff, and none of this duplicates anything.
Epic!

I can't begin to thank you enough for the vise. I've never seen an exposed screw vise that big, and I'll be in cto ontact with you once I refinish it so you can see it. Out of curiosity, I didn't see one at a quick glance, do you perhaps know who made it? Just curious.

I'm glad you like the gifts!! The vise is from the Lewis Tool Co. The maker's mark is on the back side of the base. I'd say it's probably from the early 1900's. It is a giant exposed lead screw style. They also had versions that were in between an open and closed lead screw design. They are VERY well made. I'm glad you are going to restore it. Can't wait to see it done!!!

Thank you Craig for these wonderful gifts! The shirt's a classic and in my size and one can never have too many deburring tools (when you need them, you REALLY need them).

I'll be putting the Angle block set into storage (with the majority of my tools) but hopefully I'll have somewhere to use them in the next year or two! Thank you!

Big thanks to jagwinn for all the goodies he sent and sharing his personal experiences from his job. You did a great job! I can definitely use the stuff you sent. I love the old Klein tool bag, especially the writing on the back that says "I'm A Technician Not A Magician". I've actually been thinking about getting a FastCap pencil, now I have one. Regarding my generation, I've never been a true Millennium because I've always been an old man for my age basically. I'm way to traditional even compared to my friends.

This is my first year to participate in GJSS and have had a great time doing so. I'll be back next year. I enjoyed the challenge of finding gifts that my SS would enjoy more than receiving a gift myself.

Well I am a night owl and was still up at 2 AM so I opened my GJSS gift box. It was from PECVD2 and was a home run!

The first thing I see when I open the box is a set of Barcalo Buffalo combo wrenches, most with cool raised lettering!


Then I pull the 1st layer out and in the second layer of foam I instantly a mint Craftsman Crown label body working dolly! The sticker is on the work surface so obviously it never has been used! Crown logo Craftsman is my favorite thing to collect! It will go well with my mint Craftsman body hammer!


I spied some more stuff, an OTC 915 steering wheel puller I have been looking for to complete my OTC puller board and a vintage K-D harmonic balancer puller. Score!


Finally there was a pair of patches from an Air Force laser beam test Don was a part of several years ago. It instantly reminded me when I was a Crewchief for some B-52 weapons testing, we launched a new standoff weapons system against a target in a southwest USA desert at buildings built just for that purpose. The aim point was a window on one of the windows, the video and pictures showed it hitting only a couple of feet from the window! And the weapon had a dummy head so no explosion, it went through the wall so fast there was just a hole the diameter of the weapon and 4 lines where the fins went through!

I have always thought about getting a tool apron but just never pulled the trigger. The waxed canvas Readywares apron is of high quality and will be used later today.
Tape measures and mag lights are like 10 mm sockets in that you can never have enough and the perm markers as well. I have never used the Milwaukee brand but my son in law says they are the best out there. The carbide scribes are invaluable and I can always use one, just did a tile job where I could have used them.
Thank you again Ohmthis for the great gifts and thanks to the GJSS who put this all together as you all are truly the best.

I've participated in GJ SS for a few years now. And every year I've been happy with what I have received. But not this year. This year I am ecstatic about what I received. Every item received (and it was way more than expected) was something I will use. Thank you 4 FN 27!!! And rest assured, I will cherish and treat that SK set as if it were my own Dad's! Rickster glad you like the selections!!! Always nice to get things you can use. If I do come across the Ratchets for the SK Set I will be sure to send them your way...my Dad was not very mechanical and he lost at least 1, 2 or 3 pieces out of every set he has or at least what I sorted through so far.

Merry Christmas! All has settled down here after brunch, presents with my wife and kids, my parents stopping by, and building Lego sets! I am blown away by the generosity of my gift. Any one item would have been great, but it just kept coming! A huge thank you and a merry Christmas to my SS Dustin in ND. I was showing my parents the gift box, and my mom jokingly asked if my SS knew me personally!

Every item will absolutely be used and appreciated each time its pulled out! I may even have to re-gift a couple of knives to certain people that ALWAYS ask to use mine, haha.

So here is a list:

A mister twister electric fillet knife, 3 glowing clam brand fishing lures, a 5 pack of schrade pocket knives, penetro90 penetrating oil, odor-x car freshening spray, 2 snap on pocket screw drivers, snap on mini screwdriver set, a snap on wall mount bottle opener, a/ pair of snap on work socks, a bucket of beef & pork jerky madalions by tilamook, and a ys .60fs/fr RC plane motor.



The jerky is delicious, and my boys will have no problem helping me eat it! These are also my first pair of snap on socks, and I immediately had to try them on. I'm now hooked! I have a place for "garage art" and the bottle opener will be promtply hung up next to the rest. The fillet knife is great, and I can't wait to try the lures! The screwdrivers will get used, and used some more! I had one orange flat head mini driver that I found in a junk yard and its one of my go to drivers, and I had broken all my pocket screwdrivers! I can always use car cleaning supplies, and the plane motor is awesome! Its not something I have ever been around or tried before. I did just a little research, and it looks like that baby can scream at 15k rpm!,

You are very welcome! I got that plane motor years ago from an auction. Never intended to use it, and thought it may make someone some cool garage art or potentials even use it. Never realized how much compression those have, could hardly spin it by hand!

Wow, big thanks to my SS! You did a great job in sending a variety of awesome things that will be very useful. Long 1/2" drive flex head ratchet (which I didn't have), super bright Coast LED headlamp, Gerber pocket knife, spare 10mm socket and wrench (we know what always happens to the 10mm), and a mix of beef jerky/slim jims, and Reese's. Thank you, I'll be using these things very soon.

You are very welcome! I had a bit of a hard time figuring out what you might not have. I love my long handle 1/2, and hopes you might not have one. I've been pretty impressed with the duralast ratchets, and the warranty is super easy.

Well I got back to the shop today after an eventful Christmas weekend full of call outs. I take the “bat phone” over most holidays being as I’m currently single, with no tricycle motors at home to worry about. Let those with family tie(down)s have the holiday, I’ll take the triple time. LOL

At any rate my Secret Santa package arrived before Christmas I just couldn’t get to it until this morning. Came from Colorado with a Colorado theme. Lots of goodies I’m pretty excited!

At the risk of typos I’ll post a pic of the haul and the letter w/ description that Santa included. Everything is right up my alley and I’m very grateful. Thanks so much and Merry christmas all!

Update on mine.....the brine used by Edward’s Meats in Wheat Ridge, CO to make the “special recipe” buffalo jerky my SS sent me tastes very similar to the brine recipe my dad and I use to make our smoked fish. Salmon, steelhead, albacore, clams, oysters, et al.

A recipe that, ironically, he got from a guy back in 1956......while on an elk hunt in Colorado. I kid you not!!!


That translates to one package is gone—YUMMY—and the other one is on borrowed time.

My first year doing the SS. I opened my package from Romanova and I am super impressed. My favorite part being the letter that explained each gift item and the significance of them.

The gift starts out with a Lowe's gift card.

Followed by some jerky from a Texas chain store. Also a koozy from the store.

Next is a bunch of Houston police swag. I will have to share some of this with my brother who is also in law enforcement.
The kiddos love the K-9 stuffed animal.

Next a LaRue Tactical bottle opener that that is a tradition of LaRue every year to make one in a different color.

Lastly and the coolest IMHO is the old proto pliers set. What makes these so cool is they belonged to his grandfather which he also shared a touching story of his fond memories with him every summer working on projects.

Very large Gas station is putting it mildly. It's more like a department store with gas pumps out front. My wife was taken to one when we moved to TX and she's in love. She spent like $200 there a couple weeks ago on Christmas gifts
