Hi, over here in the UK most people have a Snap on heritage 40" stack setup ( KRL is a rarity ). Recently on the Newer boxes there is a sticker which clearly says MADE IN CHINA, however when you go on the Snap on USA website the country of origin is listed as USA. Could anyone enlighten to me what the situation is? because paying £3000 (3800 USD) for a chinese built box seems crazy to me.

From my understanding outside the USA. The kra with the squared up front corners are USA. Snap on changed that a few years to match the classic. So here in the USA we only have the squared front Herritages now. From what I have seen on say Facebook and such, Aussie can get the round or square front boxes. The round front are China and the square is USA. I would think there is some difference in part numbers

Interesting, i have an Older round front kra 26" stack which says made in Canada and also a another 40" KRA which doesn't say Made in china. Odd how the Chinese made boxes are not listed on the Snap on UK website, however the ones on the Vans are China.

I have 4 KRA's all roughly 4 years old.

They have rounded corners, but don't say made in China or the USA on them, just the Serial Number sticker etc.

If they are now pumping out China box's at the same price that's disgusting really, more so as they are not telling people it's Chinese.

The reason for the website saying USA is the part number. You'll notice the price tag too, USA Made KRA is available but it's £££££ compared to normal price and will have a slightly different part number.

My dealer is the one who actually told me first, i was pricing up a 40" stack compared to a Classic 78 and he mentioned the heritages are made in china vs classic USA made. I thought it was just a sales tactic to sway me towards the more expensive classic box.
The price doesn't seemed to have dropped for these chinese made ones , think i was quoted £3300 inc Vat.

:lol_hitti £3300 for a China box, sad thing is they WILL sell them to people who aren't aware

That price i would go for the KRL or wait for a Master on deal.

Sorry, all I could find were USA versions and they're Made in USA. When I switched to Great Britain and pulled up the Heritage series, they don't show COO anywhere. If you can, discretely ask another dealer where the Heritages are made in for the UK.

Give me part numbers for the boxes and I'll phone the question in myself.

I think it's been decided that they are just selling Chinese boxes at USA prices now. Heres the part numbers for a 40" stack

Most people round where I work have EPIQs. UK EBay is littered with KRL boxes. Many upgrade to EPIQs as they have started flooding the market last year. Dealers offer good discounts on 84’s. Me and my brother bought one each. He hauled it back to France. I think that the Heritage series is what was popular a decade ago. Then it was the KRL that was pushed in as well as Classic 78 and 96. Long time ago though.

Those part numbers are discontinued. They've been replaced by the KRA4114F and the KRA4107F.

My gut feeling tells me the only boxes made in China would be Blue-Point.

The KRA boxes that were made in Ontario were sent directly over to Europe and Australia often with different model numbers from the North American version. That plant closed in early 2011.

Snap-on has been sourcing or making tool carts in China for years. Not that hard to make tool boxes in China and ship directly to markets other than the US.

Snap-on badge on a made in China box and sold at the same prices as a Canadian or American made box is not right.

Yes snapon boxes in lot of countries a complete waste of money .
In the UK you be better buying the better models from machine mart or hunting down a used deal on ebay or gumtree .
Both snapon and mac in uk push huge amount of taiwan china made lines for silly money .
That why taiwan tools, german tools and japanese tools under low key branding do so well in europe and asia as it offers massive design choices with equal or better quality for realistic cost .
With snapon they generally paying more than USA prices for less western made products, less quality and less warranty support .
From what I told snapon van presence has become pretty small market due to independant tool vans and ease and low price of online supply of likes of toptul, welzh, facom, premier, britool, stahlwille, draper expert, koken etc ...
They even got carlyle tools in UK and prices are lower than NAPA usa because the better end taiwan tool market so competitive in europe ...

KRA models have always been the cheap end. Not any better than big box brands. I suspect any boxes made in China will be KRAs.
