I have been looking for one of these for awhile, and I finally got one. They must be rare, because I have been looking for over a year, and this is only the 2nd one I have seen.

When I was 15 (28 yrs ago) I started construction work with an old school carpenter that was close to 70. He had the only one I had ever seen, until your picture.

That saw is awesome. I've never seen one before but I would probably buy it just for the cool factor.

I picked up an old gas powered grinder quite a few years back just for that reason. I didn't know what it was but later found it was a rail grinder used on train tracks. The picture isn't of mine but from what I remember it is similar to this.

No, it doesn't run at the moment, but I will get it going. It smells like the worst gas I have ever smelled, but it has good compression. When I get some free time I will go through the carb and get it running.

Well, it now runs. I pulled the carburetor off and went through it. I also flushed out the gas tank and fuel line with carb cleaner. It actually runs really good, it idles great, has good throttle response, and runs strong at full throttle. Not bad for being 50 years old!

I wish they made stuff like that, I find that something like that that runs off gas would be WAY more valuable than a damn battery powered one if you were in the middle of nowhere and needed a tool

Gas. I thought you meant battery. I know they sell the battery ones (or did), seems kind of dangerous to me. This is a homelite (home depot?) one. I don't know about the precautions for using a gas powered circular saw but I'd be very very careful with it and put a better grip on the handle.

I can't believe no one has said so yet...

YOU ****.

Plus, now all the tool whores on this site will be looking for one, and I will never get a chance to get one.

GREAT SCORE. I am jealous.

I know this is an old post but I just saw it while searching the forum. That is cool. Is there any clutch at all or is it direct drive?

There is a centrifical clutch so the blade doesn't spin when the saw is idling.

My dad has the chainsaw version of that. Looks like the only difference is the blade and the bottom plate.
