Thanks Matt. Do you have any potential websites that may have pictures of these old labels, or do you recommend that I just do a general search on-line for old Baldor images and maybe get lucky? Also, does it need to be a high-definition photo, since many of the photos I have seen so far are not HD and by the time you zoom-in on the label, it gets very blurry. Any advice you have for me is appreciated.

Hello,

I recently purchased two older Craftsman grinders and would absolutely LOVE to have some new decals for them. The 1st one (a 1/2 hp) has really none of the decal left so I've included a 2nd pic pulled from Ebay of a similar model's sticker. The 2nd (a 1/4 hp) has a really washed out sticker so I've also included a 2nd pic pulled from Ebay. If you could create these for me I would REALLY appreciate it!! Your work is awesome!

I just acquired these two old pedestals, I plan to blast and powder coat both.
Any chance to get two matching decals with the yellow lettering and blue-grey background to match?
The BALDOR decal measures 2-1/4" wide by 7" tall, the warning decal slightly wider. I would want 3 of each (1 spare set in case I screw up).

Hi Matt,

If you aren't too burned out by making stickers for vintage bench grinders, I have a modest request for my project; perhaps, you already have it.

The sticker says, "ROTATION" in a single column of letters on a funky arrow with stylized fletches. It is about 1/2" x 2" on silvery metal-like material.

I have included pictures but they aren't very good. Perhaps, someone has an old grinder with these arrows and they could make a scan?! :Help:

Thank you!

This is a Taiwanese grinder but I’d be happy to make a label anyway. Can you use a heat gun or hair dryer heat it up and peel off? I need a good scan in order to reproduce.

Matt,
This isn't a scan of the rotation stickers but would it work instead? I made it with Word and took a picture of it.
Thank you,
cloyd

Matt,

Would my request be any more attractive if I sent a scan of the image I made?

What a talent you have! You should seriously consider putting these up for sale. The turck site I'm on has a fellow who repros the decals that go on the front of the truck (specs, type of oil used, timing specs, etc) and gets something like 40.00 for them and guys are ordering them right & left!

Would you be willing to make me one of these? Should be really easy since it is almost identical to the one you made tommyp from his above post in 1/12/19? I was going to restore this grinder, the only thing stopping me was the sticker.

Just let me know what I would owe you, I certainly don't mind paying you for your time and equipment usage. Thanks.

This label was especially challenging.

The font used for the craftsman logo and the big 6 don’t match any font I could find so they had to be manually drawn. It ended up taking about an hour to recreate this badge. There are a few small differences.

My son made this one for the 1943 Craftsman grinder I just restored. He even managed to duplicate the etching with the bottom information. It is just printed on some vinyl paper so it didn't cost anything but some of his time. I used a 5 minute two part epoxy and it held well. It didn't melt or distort the label. Having the file now I could get it transferred to something heavier or metal if I wanted to pay and deal with replacing the rivets etc. Looks like it will last a long time if I don't spill any chemicals on it. Granted this was probably as simple a label as they made. I really hate a newly painted and restored project with a crummy label.

Matt, needing your help with labels for a couple CM grinders. I have a 397-19440 (the 1/2 hp version of the one you did in Post #46 on this thread), and a 397-19581, like in Post #203. Please PM me if you need a picture of the 397-19440, and what the cost will be.

Much thanks!!

I haven't read through all 12 pages of this thread. Not exactly sure how you all are doing repro stickers & stuff these days. My other half has one of those vinyl cutter things (cricket or whatever) that does really good printable vinyl cuts. We also have a small (but excellent quality) 3D printer that I use to make dashboard parts, vents, knobs for my old cars & bikes, etc. If anyone is in the CT/RI/MA area (anywhere really, I don't care) and needs something just email/PM me a file. All it'll cost you is a small donation to the beer fridge. Bring whatever you like and have one!

Matt,
Beautiful painstaking work on the 397.19440 and the 397.18581. Color, type face, clarity, transparency are all spot on. Well done, but it’s not really work when it becomes the passion of a craftsman is it? We’ve all been there with you. In different disciplines true, disassembly, reassembly, machining, finding the right fasteners etc. We all do very much appreciate the time and effort your sinking into this . . . passion of ours.

Got the photo in pm

347814a9d8ec37d8ec4051864090dc9d.jpg

It was very similar to another label I made so it only took a few minutes design time.

ab85fc87bd5a5220027e9d9f4b11d69d.jpg

This has the scuff resistant lamination. Should go on easy. I'll send out in the morning. Post photos once your label is applied.

Matt,
This the label I need for my grinder model 397.19591 Craftsman.
Do you need measurements?
How can I get you $ for sending a couple to me?
Thanks,
Rex

Hi Matt,

You being able to do this is is a wonderful opportunity for us restorers, and your examples in the thread are incredible.

I would like to buy a new label for my Craftsman 1/2 HP, Model #397.19340, S/N 722200718. My current label is so bad that the before and after photos will be impressive. Attached is what my current label looks like AFTER doing everything I could to enhance it in Photoshop. When I first brought the grinder home I didn't know which way to throw the switch because in the dim light I couldn't even see that On / Off was part of the graphic.

I see this same label (except for the serial number) in the following posts:
Post 154, second photo – the top sticker in that photo.
Post 170, second row down, sticker on the right.

I will send you a PM to follow up on payment specifics (if you are still providing this service).

Thank You for doing this work!!

Today’s labels:

ce2eb913a91b9fddf1f0834566743c8a.jpg

It saves a lot of time when I can do 2 (or more) in the same batch. It also saves on material waste as I can arrange them to fully utilize the material size.

Incredible work Matt and I'm in need of your skills if you're still making the labels. I've got two Craftsman blocks in progress now and two more in line. I'm in need of two labels of each of these . I'm guessing you've already done some of these as they're pretty common but please let me know if you do need scans of them and what you'll need for the materials fund. Thanks.

New batch of labels. Two small ones are new layouts I’ve never done before.

6413179ae82a7d16698b62adaf5b81a9.jpg

It’s hard to tell but the top left label has some gray used. Up until now I’ve only had to use red and black ribbons.

Chalk up another satisfied customer to Matt's amazing work with the labels. Just finished these two up. The 1/2hp doesn't have a date stamp, the 1/3hp is dated May 1964. Matt, you expressed concern that the gray on the 1/3 label might be too dark (and offered to remake it at no charge if I thought it was). I think it's just fine. it's just a tad darker than the original badge but I think what with natural fading over time it's probably about perfect to what it was new. Thanks so much! Getting started on another two of these today. The labels are icing on the cake to make them look so well.

Hi Matt,

Stumbled onto this thread some time ago when I started restoring an old Skil bench grinder here in Australia.

Always thought your efforts were cool, but figured when the time came, I would source my own stickers / decals. Easier said than done. Have not found anyone that can do what I need, or at least in small quantities.

So....any chance you can do some decals for me? I've already reproduced the required graphics in vector files. Understand you must get sick of people asking, but I more than happy to pay for your trouble.

Let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Fletcher
