A contractor not far from me stacked the containers two high, then trusses, strapped, metal roof, and is now a sand shed for winter roads.

Time to return to the 2.7 swap

I did get a notice from UPS that my new Welding~Torch/Gun is due today. But, It sounds like the wrong one may have been sent.

Doing my best to repair the 32yr old AirCo machine but not much luck so far.
The drive rolls will be another 89.00 Each. Pretty soon I will have enough $ in old welder I could have used for a huge down payment towards a new one.

Re: 1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap & 1966 427 Project

Go figure! The new MIG gun shows up and not only is it not a Tweco as promised it does not fit my Machine. I was quoted one price I gave ok too but charged a bunch extra on my credit card.

Now each time I call back I get the “run around” person I need to talk to is not available busy or on phone with no call back.

My setup on left. New setup on right.

What a total waste of time this has been!

Eco2.7 ready for next step but transmission/transfer case crossmember being held up by floor jack until it can be tacked~welded in place.

I also just noticed when weld shop replaced liner 2x the o-rings were damaged.
I pulled it apart thinking I could buy a New Tweco gun on my own then convert it over to my type end.

It is a Euro connection. I spoke with Tweco today and they still make exact gun my machine came with but it’s 592.00 $$

Found a online vendor saying they could sell for 460.00

The China made guns are tempting for cheap price but don’t need more headaches. I already have 200 into trying to fix my original. I guess had I known could have bought 2 of the China ones!

I have gotten to not trust so many of the online vendors.

My first Tweco lasted 32 yrs so could assume another will easily outlast me.

That link in post 4648 is for HTP America, and the listing states "non-domestic product- no".

They might have the parts you need to fix yours. Certainly worth the price of an email.

www.usaweld.com

I will try to call them today. Thanks!

Will need new gun/torch though. Found a bad kink in mine a foot or so from machine.

Machine been acting up for months. One time you pick it up welds ok but not so much the next.

Thinking I will just sell a few things to get a new welder. One being the old SR250G Yamaha. That should give me 50%. Then if I sell the old Hotsy that should about cover it.

I still want my old welder working eventually but I have stuff that needs welding now.

I will do a bit of research on what MIG guns are good. I know the Tweco gun is but very expensive to buy. Be nice to keep the welder as it’s been since new with The Tweco.

I spent so many hours trying to find a gun.

Once I found out that the Lincoln Magnum 250L gun was exact same and fit SP-250 & SP-255 I called another Large welding supply place and the guy says "Pretty sure we have that gun on the shelf"

He checked and it was in stock so drove all across the Valley to pick one up. Fits the machine perfect of course now to fire it up and see if it welds.

They also had both the 256 & 260 Machines sitting on the showroom floor still on pallets waiting for Monday "Free" delivery . . . 10.00 fee waived.

FIXED!

I tried one last thing.

Using a new .039 Roller I got with machine 32 yrs ago and a roll of Hobart .035 Wire I got back 32 years ago it welds fantastic! What a change.

This was so far back on the wire it is on a Wooden roll!

I tried the .035 wire with old gun and it did not work.

Looks like this has me back welding without spending more $$.

Whew!

I do have 2 new .030 rollers so may try that with a new roll of .030 wire.

For now keep on a weldin'

Have not been able to lay a good bead in a long time.

New gun it still does not weld proper. Still a feed issue.

Have you checked your drive rolls? Or replaced them? Some can be flipped 180 to use a second groove.

Pulled the trigger and just watched the machine feed wire?

Tensioner on the wire spool arm?

Tensioner at the drive rolls?

Is the cable liner replaceable on yours?

Taken the wire feed/drive rolls apart to clean parts and inspect?

About the only thing left would be the drive motor itself.

Yes, a new one should have been considered given age, parts availability and use.

Edit: slow typing.

Nice car with lots of cool features, looks very complete. Are you going totally stock or.....?
And what's this "last big project stuff" I'm in the middle of a big project myself with big house projects calling as well. I cant believe how busy retirement is. If this is your last big project make sure you enjoy the hell out of it, you have earned it with all the skills you have learned along the way. Thank you for sharing.

Far left is vent Recirculate-Heat

2nd to right is blower off forward high back

3rd temp control off forward heat back

4th Defroster off forward De-Ice back

5th Air Conditioner

There are a bunch of other switches to left I forget exactly what each one does.

There are 2 blower motors under hood and 2 more in trunk a pretty complex system for 62 yrs ago.

Each kick panel also has its own distribution box with control levers. Flex hoses running all over the car. Think there are actually 4 up inside headliner.
Wow.... I remember Jay Leno had a continental (forget which yr) in his YT channel and the switches and relays on it were nuts!

Cool car glad you are keeping stock To make all those systems work like New would be great.
I expect it will puff when you are done.

Someone offered to pay 50% of new 260!

So, I did the right thing!

Rainbow Ranger back to work.

I will be doing a bunch of metal repair over next year.

Already lost 3 weeks. Do not care for .035 wire for thin sheet metal.

Dip-Pak 200 will be back in service when I find new rollers.
