I can understand skipping 3/8d... But why would you skip 16, 18, and 21 wrenches. All very important sizes. Just curious.

16 and 18 are very common for tie rods, ball joints, suspension arms, on euro stuff.

No pliers or screwdrivers, but a full range of metric sockets

No 1/2 deep sockets. Doing any suspension work on your vehicle and you'll need a 20mm or 22mm deep socket.

Most of the time I encounter a 16 or 18 it's on a Euro car, so go figure, a European tool kit would exclude those sizes. I'm convinced the people designing these things have never actually had to touch a wrench in their lives.

Just had to change oil on a Ford modular motor. Well, sure enough, drain plug is a 16mm.

So now an entry level tool kit isn't even equipped for the most entry level repair on a basic domestic vehile. Lolz.

If you had a "junk SAE" 5/8 you could have turned that plug. Also, pliers. If you had an adjustable wrench or a Knipex PliersWrench it wouldn't even leave marks on the head.

Basic socket sets over here have 16 & 18's no problem.

Unless you buy something really cheap.

I think cross-over wrenches like 3/4 (19mm) and 5/8 (16mm) are one of the reasons we have fewer no-skip SAE+Metric sets here. But that's no excuse for a metric-only wrench or socket set to have skips like 18mm (used extensively by GM for goodness sake.)

Tekton has gotten the message. We may have to wait for tooling to wear out for the rest of the lower-end to get the message.
