VA, yep that's a beut, but I'm looking just for a pipe vise rather than a combination bench vise.

This Yost 33C popped up on CL last night for $200. I was the first to call but he said he couldn’t meet until the morning. When I called this morning he said he had a flood of calls and emails but would honor our verbal agreement from the night before. The vise has 5” jaws and is in like new condition. One curious aspect is that the vise has the old Athol style swivel locks that seem to be anodized black.

Thanks Gman. Yeah, I thanked him numerous times for the vise and for honoring the original deal. He could have easily backed out and re listed the vise at a higher price. I’ve been searching yost vise photos to find another with that type ov swivel lock and nothing comes up.Smitty
That is a good looking vise, nice find.
The swivel lock is indeed curious. The Yost 33Cs that I have seen all had the standard swivel lock with arm.
Hats off to the seller, he is a gentleman who kept his word![]()

PS
Out of curiosity I checked the Yost website and here is a bit of a puzzle. The spec sheet on the web site says the COO is Taiwan (which if true is a real shame) but just like your 33C, the photo of the 33C on the same page shows it is made in USA!

my 5197 is dated 2-55
wg or all,
For these older Craftsman 51xx vises, is the manufacture date on the underside of the slide? I see "59 2" on the underside of my slide.
Tx, It should be on the top of the slide. with the jaws all the way closed it will be right behind the "anvil" area.
Ok. Found it...looks like 4-46. Thanks!
no, it is not. It is very similar to post #68961 in this thread. Looks like Wilton and Supreme could be same if not for a couple discrepancies.

Wow! I thought I had one of the oldest 519X's on here with 4-48! You have that beat by a mile!
Thanks WG!
So: Who had:
- an internal lock with the 5 "teeth", and the ring of teeth on the inside rail
- the hollowed out body
- the same counter sink for the center swivel screw (far side)
- a slight shoulder on the base plate riding surface for the swiveler?
Columbian?
Columbian?
That was my first thought as well.
Similar Pics?
But mine is a 5160.
All: What's the difference in the 516x vises versus the 519x vises?
Grabbed this Wilton Multi a few weeks ago and cleaned her up for use in my brothers shop.
Lookin' good RagTop!
During a patent search I came across this design patent.

Does anyone have one of these vises? VA?
Has anyone seen one of these vises? Fierljeppen?
Looks like a unicorn...

Brand new the average price of a 4in swivel base vise would be right around $20 give or take 5 bucks either way depending on brand. That would be around 70-80 years ago.
