What’s up with all these colors

So Going over to a friends shop the other day and I noticed that almost everyone has a pink, green or flat black toolbox or tools.Im more old school I guess and I like my toolbox a classic red and My ratchets have to be chrome all the way.
What’s your guyses opinion on all that ???would you get a pink toolbox

If I liked pink, I'd get a pink toolbox. Maybe they were promos, bought used at a too-good-to-pass-up deal, or just individual tastes.

Personally, I hate red toolboxes.

I was on the snap on truck last week and some guy swapped out all his soft handles a different color.I was thinking to my self what is going on lately

But some people, like a portion of the Snap-On polishers, really fetishize certain tool handle colors.

I guess if you spend all your time working with certain stuff, things can get a little weird.

Was at the Peterbilt dealership a while back, must have been about 10-15 Snap-on and Mac boxes all different colors, not many red and no pink.

Watched a video from a HD mechanic and he got a pink cart on promo. Not that bad I guess. Back in the 90's the hard handles, came in a bunch of colors

I hate red, but it's the color of my tool box because it was what I could afford.

I hate red boxes as well. I'm a fan of flashy colors so Blue, lime green, orange, purple etc are right up my alley

Bought my last EPIQ in flat black. Cancelled order so swift delivery and a generous discount by SO over my brother’s identical (but glossy grey) 84” that had to come from factory 8.5 weeks later. No bad color for a good horse as the saying goes.

I can see why swapping handles would work in a big shop where tools have tendencies to walk. I work in a small place and had a few tools never returned (forgetting who I lent them to didn’t help either).

Bottom line, pink or purple - if cheaper I’ll take them over black or blue.

If people have money and like particular color it makes perfect sen$e, to try to cater to them.

Besides, as much as we like to make it about ourselves, i've seen rolling tool chest in medical facilities, craft shops, etc, since apparently they can store stuff, other than hand tools.

Pink for females maybe? I personally would like i bright color because it’s easier to see inside the box. I think the black tool sets look cool but if you drop them there tough to find. Whith photography the bags,acssesorys and cameras are mostly black and in low light conditions its real tough to find stuff sometimes

Too many years ago to remember what model it was, but I remember being with a buddy of mine and going to his nephews shop, and he had just gotten top and bottom snap on boxes, (probably 55"ish, maybe classics?)in this real awful bright metallic purple, that his snap on dealer had ordered for someone, and never took delivery of so he got it for a real steal. Worked alone in his shop so there was no one to give him ****, and I don't think he really would have cared anyways, he just thought it was funny he had a big purple box.

if I was shelling out for a new, high end box, I would want it in the color I wanted, but depending on the deal, I could definitely live with something different!

Always liked red tool boxes myself though i have red, black, green and orange snap on tools. I like the hard handle old school ratchets but could care less about the soft grip ratchets. I never could understand the bright boxes though. I like the green tools for my junkyard box cause the stick out in the junkyard and don't get lost. My main set of tools though is red, black and orange.

I like green. Red is not a favorite color of mine so I try to avoid it. My cart is red though. Most of my tools that can be green are green. I do like a nice chrome ratchet as well and have those. For me its personal preference, I like green so I buy green.

In an ideal world with tons of disposable income, I'd buy my toolboxes in a nice deep indigo blue with silver trim, to match the autocross car.

My toolboxes were bought at a good price though, so I have black with silver trim, though now I think I'd opt to stick with that scheme because I like things to match to a degree.

In my opinion tool companies due this to SCREW you. Hear me out on this.... You buy some "off color" tool box. Pink, yellow, green etc etc. You love it... you think its the coolest tool box in the world etc etc. Down the road you wanna get a top box or a locker to match color wise. The Snap On/Mac/Matco guy gives you a price but money is tight... you dont wanna opt to make payments so you hop on craigslist, fb market place, let go and try to find a top box or locker. You find them at good prices butttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.... its the wrong color. Now you either can go to back to the Snap On/Mac/Matco and pay his price OR you can keep waiting, searching, hoping that a used one will pop up. I bought all my tool boxes piece by piece and waited for the right ones to pop up (price wise). Fortunately I opted for red. Keep in mind down the road when you want to sell your off color tool box the resale value is lower. The member here Skyline would tell you that if he still posted here. He bought and sold a ton of tools and toolboxes. The Snap On bottom box and hutch is from him.... If you make good/great money by all means buy some "off color" box. In a perfect world I'd probably have some other color other than red but Im a "frugal" kind of guy. Down the road when Im down sizing Im pretty confident I won't get the money I paid out for the boxes BUT I wont take a bath either on them.

Why do cars come in different colors?

Me personally, I have red and black boxes, mostly due to the availability.

When I get the justification to factory order a new box, I plan to get a snap-on master's series box or epiq in yellow.

What gets me is when guys spend $10,000 on a giant Snap-on box and then order it in flat black with black trim. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on a toolbox, it's going to be the brightest, loudest, most flashy box in the shop. If you really need your flat black fix, get a wood burning stove and set it nearby.

I like red toolboxes. As much as I will tell you the color doesn't matter, I don't know if I could deal with a pink box. I prefer my lawnmowers to be red, too, but Cub Cadet Yellow cuts the grass just as well.

What's wrong with Dickies? I use em at work but not as a fashion accessory. It's like the guys who wear cowboy boots to a concert and you can tell they just got em for the show but claim to work a farm

I built a 5 drawer HF tool cart for a friend for Christmas. His wife bought it, and I put it together. She bought him the red one.

I would've gotten the yellow, green or orange. A brighter color makes it slightly easier to see tools inside the drawers. Plus it looks cool. I wouldn't mind a pink box if the price were right. Not that I'd order a pink one. Orange would be my first choice. Heck even white looks nice with black trim. It'd certainly show grease marks so you can tell if it needs wiped down.

I'm not a fan of all red boxes. I don't mind a red box if the drawers are black or charcoal. However, I'd prefer a black box with charcoal drawers, sometimes you just take matters into your own hands.

I have a red HF 44, black Husky, black Waterloo, and black Craftsman. I’ll buy what’s affordable and if and when it bothers me I’ll paint them.

I prefer white as it blends in with the garage walls. I have no need to show off and prefer not to.

I have a black KRL box at work, something like hunter green would be better, not happening though. Black does show dust pretty well. The Matco cart I have is their "black silver vein" color, more of a hammered metal finish, looks nice and doesnt show dust or much else.

Dont care for red even though I have a couple smaller red boxes.

As far as tools go, If I can pick the color I will, If I'm in a hurry and need it now, any color works.

I worked on a job site one time with a guy who would spray all his tools pink. Nobody would use his tools, they’d ask to borrow ad he’d pull out a pink colored whatever and they’d pass on using it. He said he’d never lost a tool on job site after marked everything pink.

My tool box is orange, it's a Beta box orange is traditionally their colour. Before that I had a Snap On box it was red, at the workshop I was in at the time everyone had red because that was the colour of tool boxes. Somebody joined us who had worked for Cat and his box was yellow, that was the colour of Cat boxes. Who knows in a few years tool boxes will go "retro" and everyone will want red again. The joys of freedom of choice.
