I prefer not to have to use wobbles for anything I dont have to. They are handy at times though.

I agree with plinker and Partsguy57. I use one when needed but use a standard as a default.

Guess what? Got em at HF. Pittsburgh brand. Never broken one. :D

I love wobble extensions but like ratcheting wrenches I try to avoid high torque applications for fear they will break.

I broke one within a couple of weeks of purchase. Took it back and was given a new one on the spot! I didn't know they were "guaranteed for life"

I bought a set of SK wobbles in the late 90’s. I have popped a couple of them. They don’t like high torque situations. I got tired of the SK antics for replacement so I switched to snap on and they have yet to break.

My 3/8 HF wobble broke the first time I used it to take off a CV axle nut... pos.

I have one left intact from HF. The rest are broken. In my opnion, I
think by design they all are just inherently weak.

I use the Sunex impact wobbles fairly often, I have broke a couple, easy enough to warranty. I do tend to cringe when using any wobble extension bigger then 1/4 drive.

I have the ones from Northern Tool. They are great and I haven't broke one in years. You can have them in wobble or lock them in.

Wobbles will be by nature of design weaker than the regular style due too the reduced thickness of CR-V so it can wobble. I really like my 'wobble plus' extensions as you can use them as regular extension with more metal engaged. Perhaps the OP might like wobble plus if he uses his wobble in cases where normal extension would be fine out of convenience. 24 years commercial use is not to bad for a tool that is a design compromise as far as strength goes. I'd be happy if my Taiwan wobbles lasted that long, 24 years commercial use is like 250years homeowner use minimum. I've never liked how a wobble engages a socket it such a small point of engagement IMO but a necessary evil for the tool to function.

I also highly doubt in 24years ANY of my Taiwan tools will be warrantable. SO has a proven track record for remaining in the game, so you can be confident they will be around should you need them in the future.

Koken makes the best wobble extensions for what's its worth

Nice angle, and nice to use; but I've had two failures. One drive end snapped with little force, detent ball fell out of another; definitely under a year of service, maybe less than 6 months.

I wanted wobble plus, thought these would be a cheaper option. Still bought the wobble plus snap-ons, have the kokens still.

Sounds like the torque requirement is higher than a 1/2 wobble design will allow. I don't think you are going to fix that. Can you change to a universal extension or special universal socket combo for this task?

You very well may be right however, you’re also not prepaying for 5 replacements like you are with SO. Food for thought...

I use them a bit, prefer standard. When a standard wont work Ill grab a wobble or preferably a universal impact socket.

Heaven forbid a 3/8” extension break when used to remove a 36mm nut torqued to 200 ft-lbs! I just can’t understand the junk people are selling these days!

I don’t know why either. They are weaker than normal extensions because a sizable portion of the surface area in the drive end got machined off.

But if it’s the only thing that will work just keep (ab)using the warranty and get the job done. Maybe there was a method that didn’t require breaking tools. I wasn’t there so I’m not going to second guess.
