Tekton Tools worth stealing

Well Tekton tools must be doing something right. I am just a weekend warrior and work a little bit helping a friend maintain a small fleet of trucks. Over the last few years I have traveled 20 or so miles a few times a month with my junky old tools on the back seat of my car to go help my buddy. I have never worried about anything being stolen until now. I finally got a nice set of 1/2” tekton sockets and the very first trip I take with them on my back seat they got stolen. I have never been more impressed or happy with a set of tools and I really hope that guy or gal needed the tools or the money worse than me. I will be saving up for a new set and definitely won’t be leaving them in plain sight anymore.

Where abouts and what sets? Members here will usually keep an eye out for stolen tools.

It was the 84 piece 1/2” master set in a red blow mold case. They were nice enough to leave my HF tools behind. I can’t even sleep right now. Central PA area

Sorry to hear, some people really ****. :(

Would ya be interested in a 1/2" Carlyle ratchet? I bought a 3 piece set and am probably not going to use them, older style, 60T stuff I think. I could return them to napa and get my 50 dollars back but if you want or need a 1/2 ratchet I'll send it to ya for free, just cover shipping costs and it's all yours.

Wow that’s amazing. Absolutely would appreciate that. You just gave me a bit of faith in humanity after a really crappy day.

I bought a Tekton Torque wrench last summer, good quality for the price. Sorry that someone stole your Tekton set. I doubt the guy who stole your tools will ever use them. It's far more likely he's already pawned them & bought some meth.

Worst thing about leaving ANYTHING snatchable in a car is often the damage they cause breaking in. You want to stick it in the trunk where it / they are out of casual sight. Even something cheap that might be of value can bring a ****** n run addict right through the window for a peek. They just don’t care because limp waisted Liberal judges never give them real jail time so they keep right at it.
I used to work at a border crossing not far from Montreal. I saw at least a couple dozen cars with plastic windows. The story was all the same, “ I parked downtown .......”.

Must have been the red case that fooled them :D

But thieves are opportunist for sure and often go for the obvious easy to grab stuff.
I lost Makita drill/battery that way on a job site. Only took a matter of moments.

Sorry about your loss :(

I had recently purchased the 1/4” and 3/8” sets from amazon. They were listed as lightly damaged and were both under $30 a set and I couldn’t pass them up. I already owned the impact sockets so I knew they were super quality. Turned out only the paper artwork surrounding the cases were ripped so I got a great deal. After getting them and seeing how nice they were I figured it was time to upgrade my bigger tools. I live in central PA and I guess I was naive to the world and was never in the habit of locking my doors. (That is no longer the case) I also should have never put them in plain sight but in my defense I have done this same thing 30-40 times over the years and never had anything bad happen. Too late to cry over it now and definitely a lesson learned. I enquirers about a police report and they told me I could get one if it was needed for insurance but I only carry liability so the insurance company can’t do anything either. Thank you guys for the kind words and not beating me up too badly. I am a firm believer in karma and truly believe that something positive comes from every negative experience.

Shoot me a message with your info and I can get a shipping quote, probably wont be until Thursday tho as it's the only day I'll be able to get to the post office with my work hours as they are. Hopefully it's not to much, I imagine shouldn't be more than 5 or 10 dollars

That was exactly my thoughts. You guys probably could guess how angry I was until I got this message from Yarpo. I came here looking for stolen sockets (embarrassingly now) in classifieds and found something better than my tools. There will always be something positive from every negative. And this proves that theory.

That is a great gesture, having your car broken into & stolen tools *****. I had a very similar experience leaving a snap on ratchet on the back seat last month. I returned to my car to find the ratchet was gone and a red 84 piece Tekton tool set on the back seat that was same size as the hole in muh window.:tantrum2:

Probably somebody fed up trying to get their broken Snap-On ratchet warrantied and took it out on you.

First off, I'm really sorry about your tools getting stolen. Nothing is worse then a thief, people are terrible. Secondly I will say that Tekton is good enough to steal because they are great quality for the money you give for them. I would definitely recommend Tekton products.

I felt the same way. I have been upgrading some tools for the last few months because I’ve been turning wrenches just about as much as I am driving lately. I don’t need the best of the best but most of my old tools are getting pretty ratty and I am starting to notice how much skipped sizes matter. I have some HF tools that are 15 years old and I have had to warranty a few but for the most part I got my money’s worth out of them. When I started looking for upgrades the same name kept popping up and that was Tekton. I started off with smaller purchases like the 3/8” impact sockets and was blown away with the quality. If people want to use their made in China phones to leave disparaging comments on my Taiwan tools I will sit back and laugh at the humor in that contradiction. Nobody worries about where the best products come from until it comes to a hand tool? Tekton has the best warranty along with the best customer service on a very good tool. That is a win in my book. Dollar to dollar value Tekton wins all day long. Snap-On May be fractionally better but not multiplacationally better. And again thank you to the sincere people for commenting.

I just bought a 12 pc tekton screwdriver set and they are american made. Honestly some of the best screwdriver I ever held. Yeah I can't justify snap on price, and you're right Tekton warranty is next to nobodies. Best warranty hands down.

I'm not far from you. I'll keep an eye on the local craigslist / facebook marketplace. I recently bought an SK 3/8 socket set, and then a Tekton 1/4 socket set a week later. If I had bought the Tekton set first, I definitely would have gone with them for the 3/8 set as well. The SK's are nice, but they were over 4X the cost.

I've had my car's broken into a few times for stupid ********, change and a hat. Now I keep the GT in the covered parking and off the street and the SE-R is fully kitted out with proximity, glass break, tilt sensors, quick release wheel with lock, cut off switches and 2 cameras hard wired in with GPS tracking to boot lol

I played with the screwdrivers at meijer the other day I’m with you on the quality. I really wanted to buy them but I couldn’t get past how uncomfortable the handle was.

You get used to them. I was on the fence and now they are my go to if I don't have my Fuel on me

It is a unique handle and grip for sure. It's something you get use too.

The screwdrivers and ratcheting wrenches are next on the list. I will eventually replace the 1/2” set as well when finances allow it. I think they have made significant strides in the tool industry and are gearing their items towards what the consumers want. Quality and affordability. There is a balance, and I think Tekton has found it.

I grabbed a set of those long skinny Teton drivers by impulse at Sams Club. I wasn’t impressed with the overly long ones and sizes in the set. And Those handles, no way. I thought they would be nice but in use are far too ungianly for me. Now when I need one I go right by those for one of the old ones. I’ll stick with the red and clear plastic handles ones and toss those fancy handled things in the house and boat emergency box[emoji1304]

I guess it depends on the theft. Wether or not there just interested in money and credit cards. Easy pickup. I had my small but packed tool box and they took the whole thing. I had my Snapon tools in smaller mobile box. Now I just purchase less expensive tools for my mobile repairs.

Thank you YARPO!! Very kind gesture and I really can’t thank you enough.

That's a handsome ratchet. And if you check the "Truck Tool Equivalents" thread, Mac Tools has rebranded several of those Carlyle ratchets (probably with a big markup).

I don't know what to say about someone who would steal another man's tools. Good luck with that ratchet, Truck. Yarpo, well done.

Hey man glad it showed up. I checked the tracking and saw it was estimated to be delivered later than expected, which I suppose is almost expected now lol. The guaranteed delivery dates are almost never guaranteed anymore.

Looks great, hope you get plenty of use out of it and remember napa should warranty or replace for you without issue I believe.

Yeah it was due Friday but delivered Monday. I still find it pretty damn impressive that they can relocate an item across the country for just a few dollars. Even a day or two late, they are providing an extraordinary value. And it was well worth the wait. Unfortunately I never got a chance to use the Tekton so I can’t compare them, but this Carlyle is a quality tool. This experience has also opened my eyes to Napa and the Carlyle brand and I am quite impressed. They are a bit pricey but the quarterly sales flyer has some pretty aggressive sales.

That's very true, I think its pretty awesome and the postal and shipping services have always been good to me (until recently) even amazon, I used to get **** delivered in two days from anywhere in the country, on time every time! Now I think they've gotten so busy my shits never on time, but its still fascinating for sure, I've just gotten spoiled.

Carlyle is certainly nice, but as you stated pricey. I think that's my biggest hesitation with them, plus what pushed me to send these to others wasn't the tools themselves, but issues with the local napa, time and time again. Just ******. I'm hoping you have a good napa near you, and if you do Carlyle is certainly a manufacturer to consider when you're buying future tools!

Check out the Long double box flex wrenches. I've been using mine a ton and the length on them is amazing. Maybe not something you'd use, but if it is, I recommend them.
