Need confirmation on two post wiring

Hi everyone, first time poster here. I built my own 32x36 shop and am in the home stretch now. I bought a two post lift.

My electrician just got tossed in jail so I am trying to figure this out. I have a little electrical experience but want to verify what I need. Hooking up the breaker is not a problem for me, I just want to verify I'm getting the correct size/type breaker.

Attached are pics for reference. I bought the lift used from a shop that was upgrading. I have 10awg (three wire, black, white, ground) from the panel to the lift (~30'). The wires from the lift are the same (see pic).

From my research, I should need a single pole 20amp breaker is all? Seems like it should be more than that. Does something like this need a GFCI breaker or just a standard one?

This lift can be wired 30A. It is to be hard wired and doesn't require a gfci. Is the breaker local and within sight? Use black tape to re mark the white as black for 240V double pole breaker.

Being that the motor is 2HP a plug and cord can be used if desired as long as the outlet and plug are rated for at least 2HP. The plug is considered a disconnect. The lift is not required to be hardwired since the motor is not over 3HP. 240V requires a 2pole breaker and GFCI is not required for 240V.

Edit: My lift has the same motor and the instructions called for a 25A circuit. I used #12 THHN in conduit and a 25A breaker, but you can use #10 with a 30A breaker.

You need a double pole breaker. A single pole would not give you 240v. A 20a may hold but may nuissance trip. I would go with 25a or 30a. Make sure to get a breaker listed and labeled for your panel.

What happened to your electrician BTW?

As soon as I saw the first reply it clicked for me.

Just for clarification, the panel is in sight (~20') of where the lift will go. The 10awg wire is already in the ceiling and just needs to be tied in. I also have it at the panel and just need to connect to the breaker. For the meantime, I will have the wire terminated into a junction box at the ceiling until I install the lift. I'll leave plenty of wire that will allow me to tie directly into the lift.

p.s. My electrician is apparently going through a nasty divorce and got arrested for domestic related charges.
