I was going to suggest the MG725 but since you are not happy with it the only other 1/2" that is in the same league IMO is the IR 2135TiMAX.

walk into any shop and I bet at least half the mechanics are using a IR Ti, or a rebranded version of it. There's a reason for it.

Light, the Q model is quiet, lots of power, and not too expensive.

I do love my mg725 just curious what others are comparable yet lighter. Nitro Kat's any good?

The mg725 is dependable and tightens and removes fasterners without any problems. I have 100A% faith in it.

< More IR love...I've had my 2135Ti for about 4.5 years now and it has NEVER let me down. You just can't compete w/ them. All the big tool brands just tweak this version of impact, physically for the most part, and add $*** amount of dollars, but at heart, it's the same gun! Hopefully it keeps on chuggin

Edit: unless you're Cornwell...their version of the 2135tiMax is actually cheaper, my bad.

I think GUY says it all. Me, as a weekend wrench, I like my old school IR 244 -2, especially for tire changes and any work dealing with removing tires. Yes, It's heavy, noisy and irritating like Rosie O'Donald, but it's also like George Foreman; old, incredibly strong, and willing to take an incredible beating. At the apocalypse, the IR 244, like Twinkies and cockroaches, will survive. :lol_hitti

+1 for the MG725,I had one up until I lost it (and a good % of my tool inventory, and some other things I won't go into) in a fire last year. It was without a doubt, the best impact I've ever used. I have since replaced almost all of my inventory,I have the Napa 1/2" composite impact now, which I have no complaints with whatsoever. I would have liked to have bought another 725,but when you have to replace half of your gear pretty quick, you make concessions based on money. I realize alot of this post is OT,but word to the wise,if you don't have your tools insured,MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I have only good things to say about my ir2135 old non max version its light powerful and hammers wicked fast compared to 231 and 244 variants plus you can get parts for it from any place selling IR air tools including all tool trucks

IMHO you have the best 1/2 impact gun........

X2. I strongly believe the MG725 is the best 1/2 impact gun on the market right now. However with that said the IR 2315timax is up there is well and is a bit lighter so you can try that if you feel the MG725 is to heavy.

The mg725 is dependable and tightens and removes fasterners without any problems. I have 100A% faith in it.

My first Impact wrench was a Mac Tools AW434M used on Ebay. It is a magnificent wrench From the weight and build to the sweet sound. Also the Proven Bullet Proof Twin Hammer Ingersoll Rand design. But when I could not remove a crank pulley bolt from a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 4 cylinder engine it was time for a new one.

The replacement is a Mac Tools 1/2" Composite Impact Wrench Model Number AW480Q, which is a Nitrocat impact wrench. I have not gotten use to the feel and it doesn't seem as powerful as the AW434M. Which can be attributed to the noise and the twin hammer versus Twin clutch design.

Personally, the Nitrocat did not feel as powerful as a Twin Hammer Impact. This is my observation, not based on specific data to back up this claim, however I think this is due to the feel of the Dual Clutch vs. Twin Hammer operation. Also the Mac Dealer said that it is more sensitive to water vapors in the compressed air line than the AW434M. But the AW434M is a bullet proof IR design so it is hard to compare sensitivity. A positive trait for the Nitrocat is the quiet operation.

Based on the feel and sensitivity to water vapors, I sold the nearly new wrench on ebay with the original packing with the warranty paperwork.

The replacement impact wrench is a Snap On MG725 which is a twin hammer design and which I like very much.

The 2135TiMAX, is a outstanding impact wrench with a lot of happy owners, it has more positive reports/use than the Nitrocat owners report.

I have tested the three Impact wrenches on a Crankshaft Bolt removal and all three failed to remove the crank bolt. ALSO THE REGULATOR ON MY AIR COMPRESSOR WAS CRANKED TO THE MAXIMUM OUTPUT AT 150PSI WITH A 3/8 FLEXZILLA HOSE USING THE RED LEGACY COUPLERS. The trick is to lubricate the crank bolt with a penetrant oil and let soak for an hour before trying to remove the bolt. (NOTE: THESE CRANK BOLTS HAVE NEVER BEEN REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE AND ARE OVER 6 YEARS IN SERVICE.)

Not sure if a more powerful impact gun/wrench will remove a crank bolt without lubrication.

OR a HVLP fittings on my air lines would improve the performance.

I was a Big proponent of IR for the titanium Impacts but then the MG725 came out. and if that is too heavy you need to get an old gun. those were heavy and weak a fantastic combo.

You guys always mess around with consumer grade stuff and think it is the bees knees. Try an industrial brand like Cleco or Dotco or Atlas Copco.

I love IR tools! I've been buying up any that I can find a good deal on. I currently have two IR2135's and two IR2115's and my air ratchets are all IR. I've been using the same guns for the past 4.5yrs daily, no issues yet. Amazing power to weight ratios and reliability. Wouldn't recomend anything other than IR. IMHO...
