From what I can find on google it looks to be just a regular nail pneumatic nail gun.

The nail sticks out so you can accurately place it for joist hangers. No other real use.
I would guess a nail gun that has to be placed then trigger pulled for each shot.
as opposed to holding the trigger down and bumping the nose of the gun for repetitive shots

The term usually refers to nail guns designed specifically for nailing metal connectors, such as Simpson straps and hangers. The nails need to be shot exactly into a hole in the metal.

If you need to nail joist hangers, a palm nailer is a decent, lower cost alternative. Palm nailers are also good for electrical boxes.

I have a Bostich Framing Nailer with an interchangeable positive placement tip. It comes in handy since lot of hangers require 16d nails. I also have a Strap Shot for shooting Tico nails, it fits in much smaller spaces.

Try looking at a palm nailer if you want an inexpensive solution that doesn’t involve just using a hammer.

If you are anchoring joist hangers look into Simpson Structural screws 1/4 in hex drive
Or their N10D galvanized nails.. but inspectors never check..so framers use whatever kind nails they find rolling around on the floor of their truck.
