I'm sorry if it was mentioned but I find it curious the slides also have a detent if you shove them closed hard enough. It's not necessary because of the "Griplatch". But it doesn't interfere, either - you have to push it back further than where the latch catches

Anyone run into this issue?

Attempted to order 2 of the 72" RS Pro Series cabinets Red with Stainless Steel top from NAPA yesterday and after after several phone calls they were unable to locate any locally. They did show NAPA stock in Florida and Alaska but would charge me the freight from those locations to California. That was not an option I was willing to pay for. They then told me that NAPA was not willing to order them from the manufacturer because they are required by the mfg to order those in quantities of 8. Apparently in the So.Cal area black and blue are more popular than red. Was going to turn these cabinets into a modular work area similar to the CTS series from Homak.

Very disappointing to not be able to order items that are advertised in a flyer.

Seems a lot of people are having issues with NAPA. My NAPA is pretty good, guess I got lucky. Seems like everyone is ordering straight from Homak.

All the combos show OOS again at Homak's site and have since at least last weekend. Right now it appears all the roller cab onlys show in stock though.

When I ordered my green combo it seems I found a couple-day window when most colors of the combo were in stock. It also validates my decision to not return my damaged upper for fear they wouldn't have a timely replacement.

I used the box the other day whilst wrenching on the gf's truck and I really enjoy it. Drawer action is nice. But mostly I just enjoy the increased space and resulting improved layout and access to my tools....so much of my praise has to do with available storage space rather than anything unique to the Homak box.

It was the weirdest thing: the damage to my upper (which was mostly on the rear and lid) didn't affect the function of the box in practice. It still held all my tools and none of my tools complained. Huh.

I will say the Griplatch has some decided downfalls: you've really gotta watch you don't place tools or cases right under the latch, AND the *catch* just inside the upper lip of the box itself sometimes eats up just enough height to not let cases slide under.

For this reason alone I definitely see the advantage of other designs that are completely EXTERNAL to the interior drawer space like Snappy's slide-left or perhaps the US General (although reports of broken plastic on those seem problematic)

I am NO stranger to Griplatch-esque designs - I've been using a Craftsman since '03 and still have it. Love that box. But somehow the Homak seems even more sensitive to interference.

I was told the same thing when ordering my box, it's what lead me to ordering from homak directly

Based upon this alone your NeedAPartAsshole doesn't deserve your dollars anyway. Order from Homak.

If you would have paid tax at NAPA, run thru the cart at Homak. They didn't charge me tax (and sorry, no, I'm not voluntarily paying "use tax" - spare any moralistic BS 'cause I do NOT care, and if that makes me a horrible human being and public enemy #1 I'm completely fine with that). Now if you're already tax-exempt at NAPA that advantage goes out the window.

If we can truly spare $5.7B to build a wall, and argue that that's "just a drop in the bucket" of federal spending....

Well today was the Pitt, literally. Got a call from Pitt in Ohio Wednesday about my delivery between 10a-2pm Thursday or today 2-7-19. Went to location and moved a job out that I was working on, silly me I should have called them to confirm this morning. I got busy prepping wife (handicapped) and forgot - Hell you are a business I take you for your word. Failed to get the first womans name at Pitt.

At 2:15p called them to find out --- they didn't have a lift gate truck so they did not ship!!!!!!! WTH, what do you mean you did not ship?@$#@%@#R$

Needless to say, if Homak tells you Pitt in Ohio is the carrier. Request someone else.

We will see what happens Friday - and I will be calling first light to confirm. My time is valuable. But what happened to business courtesy? Homak told me once shipped it was out of their hands, not happy with that response either. This box better exceed my expectations.

So 8:30a this morning I called Pitt - they assured me my order was on a truck. I should have told them emphatically that my order should be first drop after the Thursday fiasco, but neglected to do so. Tic Toc and 12:20p comes and here is the truck. He opens the door and my heart stopped from what I could see, original pallet broken and box is rocking back & forth. They had set it on another pallet. I start snapping pictures.

Driver lowers it down and I can see thankfully the edge near left front wheel is not as damaged as first appears. Driver helps me unwrap and we both agree all is good. :)

I called Homak and ordered a set of extra drawer slides for the top drawer - $36 shipped. Once they come in I can load the top drawer. Box looks good and since I slept on Thursday fiasco I'm moving on. Still say avoid Pitt Ohio but according to the driver they deliver lots of boxes including Snap Off.

Once my 54 arrives I'll be adding the second set of sliders because I already know the top drawer will be loaded.

Post your experience please. Including where you source the slides and if the drawers are fully punched/ready for install of the additional slides.

Second set of slides for 54" top drawer ordered, $36 shipped to me. Will post images and results after install.

It looks like the US Gen side locker is a go on the blue color. Don’t got it setup yet but just a quick color check. Got a little scrape on what will be facing the side of the Homak so I’m not worried about it. If they had to ship another one it might be worse.

Just browsed through most of this thread and talked myself into one fairly easy. Stuck on the 54” combo or 72” with stainless top. Work surface is great but currently shop space is limited. Looking to expand or move shortly though.

You’re in NW PA.....I’m in Fairview, not sure how close you are, but if you are close you are more than welcome to stop by my place and check them out. I have both the 54 and the 72 combo.

I am closer to Pittsburgh. I will be up that way in April but plan to have one before that. I appreciate the offer though.

So waxed it and started loading - forgot the "stay away from the front of drawer" comment and could not open the first drawer I loaded. LoL

Kept the shipping foam and cut strips to put under the latch. That at first load on the short drawers seems to help me remember to not put my GearWrench long handle trays under the latch. SMH

Biggest flaw on these was latches on inside of drawer, no idea why didn't put on outer side like all others do .

You may have to tell NAPA you just want a refund and re-order. Or would you accept a certain $$ back?

Start giving them options that are acceptable to you.

Just ordered 3 pairs of slides to add to my 54" combo. Homak customer service via email wanted to confirm slide part # and based on the serial number of my box they show part number AC602 not AC601. When I placed the order the CSR said they have many instock. Maybe this part number is a newer version of the AC601.

Will update when I receive and install them.

Just an FYI

Do you have a picture of the HF side cabinet mounted? Curious on the color match and depth difference.

Out of curiosity did they give you an approximate delivery date?

Homak has apparently asked if a discounted price would convince me to keep the box. I'm waiting to see what kind of discount they offer, I'd much prefer an undamaged box but we will see what happens. I'm ready to load a box down with tools, as it stands its empty and taking up valuable space in the shop.

I don’t have it mounted yet. The cabinet is 22” deep vs the box being 24” deep. I’ll post pics when I get it hanging on the side. Working on making room and I have to flip the casters on the box because the swivels are on the side I want to put the locker on. Hopefully this weekend.

Just received my 72" Black combo. It ended up taking about 2 months from start to finish. I made the mistake of ordering it through Napa. I originally ordered the Blue 54" combo but, had to return it due the boxes both being damaged. I chose to go ahead and upgrade to a Blue 72" combo but, week after week of being told it was coming in and not happening caused me to call Homak directly. We settled on a Black 72" combo last week and it arrived today. I do have question for those with the 72" combo. The bottom box came with the steel top attached. I didn't think was supposed to come with a steel top for the combo? It looks like the steel top is attached with a couple of 1/2" bolts coming from the inside of the box. I think I'm going to unbolt from the top of the bottom box and go buy some tool box liner from Home Depot and lay it down before it put the top box on.

I will keep the steel top in order to build a small work bench in the future.

Yeah the combos aren't supposed to have the steel top although I thought it'd be great if they did. Doesn't get in the way for setting an upper chest on it, and gives you the option of not.

Basically zero downside and potential advantages.

Sure technically the chest won't "nest" in the lips on the lower but if you bolt it together w the provided bracketry it's going nowhere barring a nuclear blast....

I thought about just placing the top box on top of the steel top but, the steel top is a little over an inch thick and the brackets are too short.

Removed the sheet metal top from the bottom box and mounted the top box on to the bottom box. The sheet metal table top was held on by four 1/2" bolts. It must have weighed around 70 lbs. The one thing that I didn't realize until I put it all together was that the top box has a black rs pro sticker while the bottom box has a white rs pro sticker. At this point, I don't really care about the different colored stickers...I'm just glad to have finally have the tool box. I plan on using the sheet metal table top to make another work bench.

Excuse the mess as I am moving a lot around. Its taken a bit longer to get to this point but I’m here now. I have to repaint the handle but its hanging there. To recap, this is the HF blue side locker.
