For nothing else, it is cool.

There were a couple of guys that posted about this about a year ago. Expensive? yes, but it has a coolness factor. Personally, I prefer the beer bottle, less dishes to do..but that's me.

FWIW, There were some available locally here a year or two ago and I just couldn't see the point. Guess I missed an opportunity to double my money. Won't be bidding against those who do get it.

thnx, jack vines

I like my VW cup made from an old diesel filter. It does make your drink taste funny though. It's galvanized and it makes your drink taste metallic..

Moose, you made me laugh, thanks. We had 30 inches of snow over the weekend and are getting another 18 inches or so right now. I'm stuck at home with all my tools at the shop and am going nuts. And I live in Maryland not North Dakota like SK Farmer. He's used to this ****. We normally get a total of 12 to 18 inches all winter.

Back to the mug. It has a certain coolness factor. One will pop up at an auction sooner or later and I'll try to bring it home.

I like it. It's no different than say an expensive favorite team mug or nascar or whatever. To each his own.

It came from a Diesel Polo i serviced. It's a euro-market car, but i'll get a pic and the part number later.

Yes, I love Polos. I REALLY wish they got imported. Id love one with a 1.8T swapped in.....

Kinda silly they don't bring over the Polo and Lupo with all of the green/MPG love recently. They get better mileage than a prius!!!

Though ideally I want a TDI 4motion passat wagon....Wish they made one.

I've been in a ~'01 Polo with a 225bhp 1.8T (from an Audi TT) swapped in. It was scary fast, and would spin the wheels up into 3rd gear. It was a lot of power for a small car. And i think it could only run 195 tyres up front.

The Lupo's gone now, replaced by the Fox which gets even better mileage. But is made in Brazil and loses out lightly in quality, athough they're good for such a cheap car. The new Polos are sweet, good looks and good quality.

VW made/make a Passat TDI 4Motion. We even got a few right-hand-drive ones over here in the UK, but they're not uncommon out on the mainland, especially in the mountain regions. I don't know about the US market, but Europe still gets Passat TDI 4Motions. I haven't seen one over here, but i'm sure we could get one if it was ordered to that spec.
